Head of Brand & Marketing - Abbey Road Studios
Abbey Road is one of the most famous recording studios in the world and remains to this day a vibrant recording, mixing and production studio. Abbey Road Studios has been part of the Universal Music for over 2 years and is a much-treasured asset, which is seeing significant investment. There are major redevelopment plans in process to create new studio capacity to bolster the strength and reputation of the base business. The Abbey Road brand has huge brand recognition worldwide and this is something the management team plan to harness to expand the appeal and business opportunities for the studio going forward. Already, Abbey Road has launched a new education arm, the Abbey Road Institute, and launched a retail unit at the end of October 2015 to monetise the huge tourist footfall to the building and zebra crossing. Abbey Road has also just launched a music focused tech incubator and there are many more digital business businesses and ideas tabled for launch in the near future. This is an exciting time for the studio with new energy and a real focus on the future.
main purpose of role
The Head of Brand & Marketing will be responsible for all brand development and B2B & consumer marketing programs for Abbey Road, including Online, Social Media, PR and Brand Partnerships. Abbey Road is seeking a custodian of the brand that guides the expansion of the brand and its presence in numerous new business areas – continually respecting the heritage of the brand and driving new opportunities that play to our core strengths and consumer demands. We are a small business with big ambition and seek a candidate that is a self-starter with strong commercial acumen and focus on execution.
Key Responsibilities:
• Brand owner, ambassador and custodian across ALL Abbey Road Studios activities
• Develop brand and marketing strategy
• Manage existing brand partnerships and aggressively pursue new opportunities
• Implement marketing strategy with activation across traditional and digital media platforms
• Reinvigorate research and tracking at campaign level to drive marketing and commercial insight
• Oversee PR strategy, working with agency and internal teams
• Implement digital strategies including digital marketing buys and activation, CRM and managing social networks.
• Maintain and improve Abbey Road performance against revenue and profit driven targets, working with internal and external teams.
• Inspire internal and external teams and ensure brand engagement across communication, product, environment and policy
• Maintain style guides and toolkits
Infrastructure Responsibilities:
• Manage a small team of specialists
• Work across Abbey Roads functional teams and provide leadership, support and guidance for all their marketing activity and brand positioning
• Oversight of all creative applications of the brand and own all marketing materials and output
• Generate and oversee all relevant marketing materials
• Lead partnership contracts, location agreements and supplier contracts with legal department support
• Manage external PR advisors

Essential
• An established 360° Marketer - skilled in all aspects of the marketing mix from conception through to delivery.
• A Brand expert, proven experience of understanding and working with brands that require sensibility and respect
• A strategic thinker with a willingness to be actively involved operationally
• Good communicator with the ability to build working relationships internally and externally
• Experience ideally gained in an entertainment or FMCG environment
• Strong commercial acumen
• Huge music fan!
