Description

The Copyright Associate is responsible for setting up copyrights within Capitol CMG Publishing proprietary database, communicate copyright data externally, and support copyright initiatives.
Job Functions:
• Set up all new songs within P.R.S. (Capitol’s proprietary copyright & royalty database), ensuring data accuracy and processing for Capitol CMG Publishing copyrights
• Set up Capitol CMG writer and publisher accounts within P.R.S based on provide contractual information.
• Review contracts for song setup implications and writer/publisher information
• Proactively request song data, including monthly new song reports, from Hillsong, Thankyou Music, Integrity, and other strategic partners
• Maintain communication and systems to ingest copyright information from Publishing’s creative staff, administered catalogs, and Label A&R admin ( whitesheets )
• Research songs that are not found in Capitol CMG Publishing’s Database
• Work with accounting staff to research, identify, and setup songs on statements that are not found in P.R.S. to ensure all royalties are processed or returned
• Research and respond to copyright disputes from Agents and publishers to substantiate or resolve claims
• Answer copyright inquiries and ensure all copyrights are set up accurately at Harry Fox
• Support Copyright Specialist with various types of registrations
• Review translation requests and organize database of approved or official translations
• Aid in resolving copyright disputes
• Provide general support and backup customer service on an as needed basis for Publishing Administration staff through catalog changes and acquisitions
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with key individuals and organizations affecting copyright administration
• Provide reporting of catalog lists, writer schedules, and song data on an as needed basis
• Assist with the onboarding CWR process and help trouble shoot and potential set up issues
• Work with CCLI to ensure our catalog is represented accurately and payment details are correct.
• Hire and train admin interns.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Skills/Abilities:
• Highly organized and detail oriented
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with diplomacy
• General knowledge of music publishing and/or intellectual properties
Education & Experience:
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Knowledge of copyright administration and registration
• Familiarity with the Christian music industry
• Bachelor degree preferred or a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
