International Sales Intern

VMI Worldwide is seeking an International Sales Intern to join our team in Los Angeles. This position will primarily support our International Sales department, with a strong focus on sales activities, market preparation, and marketing materials.

The intern will work closely with the sales team and gain hands-on experience in the international film sales and distribution business, including the opportunity to attend the American Film Market (AFM) alongside the VMI team.

Start Date: September 1st
Duration: 14 weeks
Days Required: 4 days per week / 10am - 6pm
Location: In-person internship - Melrose Ave, Hollywood

Role Description

VMI is looking for a motivated, highly organized candidate with strong written and verbal communication skills who can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate should be comfortable multitasking, managing deadlines, and quickly switching between different projects and priorities.

The intern will assist the International Sales team with day-to-day sales activities, sales materials, reporting, and preparation for international film markets. They will also work closely with the Marketing team to coordinate materials such as posters, trailers, catalogs, and presentations for buyers. The intern will also have the opportunity to assist and gain experience across VMI's other departments, including Productions & Acquisitions, Distribution, and Delivery.

The intern will have the opportunity to attend AFM with the VMI sales team, assisting with buyer meetings and market activities while gaining firsthand exposure to one of the industry's major international film markets.

The day-to-day responsibilities will vary, providing the intern with a broad understanding of how independent films are marketed, sold, and distributed internationally.

Tasks Include

International Sales

Assisting the International Sales team with day-to-day sales activities
Preparing and updating availability lists for international buyers and territories
Assisting with sales reports, deal tracking, and internal databases
Researching international buyers, distributors, platforms, and new business opportunities
Assisting with client meeting preparation and scheduling
Supporting the sales team with additional projects as needed


Markets & Marketing

• Assisting with preparation for international film markets, with a particular focus on AFM
• Attending AFM alongside the VMI sales team and assisting with buyer meetings and on-site market activities
• Coordinating sales and marketing materials ahead of market deadlines
• Helping prepare and update catalogs, lineups, presentations, posters, trailers, and other promotional materials
• Tracking deadlines and ensuring materials are ready ahead of markets
• Reviewing title information and marketing materials to ensure they are accurate and up to date
• Working closely with the Marketing team on materials needed by the International Sales department

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who can commit to an in-person internship for 14 weeks.

The ideal candidate should have:

• A strong interest in international film sales, distribution, and the entertainment industry
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Great attention to detail
• The ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines
• The ability to manage several projects and priorities at the same time
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with Adobe InDesign is a plus.
• An interest in international markets
• Previous entertainment industry experience is a plus, but not required
The internship will count for school credit for student interns. VMI will be happy to provide a letter of recommendation at the end of the internship.
