VISUAL EFFECTS SOCIETY Membership Services Lead
Position Overview The Membership Services Lead supports the global growth of the Visual Effects Society by guiding the full membership lifecycle including: member recruitment, admissions, engagement, recognition, retention, and member benefits. A key goal of this role is to provide an exceptional member experience while supporting the Society's mission and long-term growth. To execute this work, the Membership Services Lead works collaboratively with the HQ staff, VES leadership, Section Boards, committees, studios, and industry partners, to ensure these programs are delivered consistently, efficiently, and in alignment with organizational priorities. This position requires exceptional organizational and project management skills, sound judgment, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives while building strong relationships with members, volunteers, and industry partners.
Key Responsibilities
Member Services Manage the full membership application process during the two annual application cycles, including: coordinating fall and spring recruitment sessions with industry partners, reviewing and processing applications, applicant communications, payment coordination, membership records, and providing application and vetting information to the VES Membership Committee.
Communicate membership decisions to applicants and manage deferred applications, refunds, membership card orders, and new-member welcome materials. Coordinate membership termination procedures with the Office Manager, including updating member status, website access, and administrative records. Administer member subscription benefits, including twice-yearly code distribution and related record maintenance.
Support development and implementation of the new CRM platform to improve the management, engagement, and connectivity of the VES membership. Member Benefits & Engagement Plan and execute VES-hosted virtual Q&A webinars with studio partners, including scheduling, panelist coordination, live moderation, and post-event archiving. Administer member and industry recognition programs in coordination with the Board of Directors.Explore opportunities to provide new global benefits for our members. Support post-award communications by coordinating materials for press releases with the VES public relations team. Research, draft, and coordinate In Memoriam tributes honoring deceased VES members and notable VFX professionals.
Committee Support Serve as the primary HQ liaison to the Membership Committee and Fellows Committee, coordinating communications and deliverables, and ensuring alignment with organizational priorities. Provide administrative and operational support to other member-focused committees and Board initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
5+ years of experience in membership services, nonprofit administration, event production, and awards or honors programs. Exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent programs, deadlines, and stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills across email, virtual, phone, and in-person. Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Excel, CRM/database systems, WordPress, Canva, Adobe Acrobat, and other content creation or collaboration tools. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across departments. Familiarity with Zoom Webinars or similar platforms. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with members, volunteers, committees, studios, and external partners. Discretion and sound judgment when handling sensitive member information. Knowledge of the visual effects production pipeline, studios, and industry organizations. Working knowledge of AP Style or experience proofreading professional communications. Project management or process improvement experience, including documenting workflows and improving operational efficiency.
Salary/Benefits

Salary Range: $70,000-75,000/year, depending on experience.
Working Hours: This position is a full-time, exempt salaried position located at our Sherman Oaks, CA office. Occasional nights or weekend work are required. Willingness to travel, as needed, to industry events or conferences.
