Fall Paid Intern - Distribution Company Operations

This is a Part Time Paid Internship

Variance Films is looking for a paid, part-time in-office intern to join us for the fall.

You'll work directly with every member of our small team, touching all areas of theatrical distribution including acquisitions, marketing, finance and exhibitor relations, and all Variance interns receive regular one-on-one slots with our executive team for discussion, mentorship, and to answer any of your questions.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Your duties will vary but will likely include:
• Assisting our finance team in logging grosses and processing invoices
• Assist our exhibitor relations team in distributing materials
• Taking notes in and scheduling meetings/zooms
• Screening potential titles and providing coverage
• Light research for our marketing team
• Administrative duties for our executive team

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
• Strong interest in the US independent film industry
• Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google Sheets
• Great interpersonal skills and written communication
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Must be 18 years or older

QUALIFICATIONS
• Strong organizational skills and accuracy in reporting
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Reliability in both attendance and work
• Confidentiality and discretion is a must- we work on secret projects and an NDA is required of all employees.
• A knowledge of the US independent film industry
• A real interest in seeing how film distribution works

SPECIFICS
This is part-time position, planned as three 6- 8 hour shifts per week within our office hours of 930am-530pm. We have flexibility on which specific days and hours based on the applicant's needs.

This is a temporary internship position of limited duration, with no offer of full-time work. The position is anticipated to end Dec 2024. The position does not qualify for further benefits.

This position is 100% in-person with no remote work option, and successful candidates will be able to come to our Rutherford, NJ office three days per week. Apologies, but please do not apply if this doesn't work for you.

The hourly rate for this position is $20/hour, paid bimonthly.

Variance believes that the listed salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in locations that require salary range disclosures.

WHERE IS NEW JERSEY EVEN
New Jersey is the state located directly to the west of New York, and Rutherford is a town in New Jersey located approximately seven miles to the west of New York City. You can get here easily via NJT train or bus, and our office is 400 feet from the train station and bus stop- it takes about half an hour on public transportation from NYC or Newark. Parking is tricky, we recommend public transportation. We are sorry/not sorry that we do not have a NYC office, this is independent film and you have seen these rents.
