The A Side: A Day in The Life
The main focus of the Video Release Co-Ordinator will be to support UK labels, managing their requirements for new release and catalogue digital video products destined for commercial partners. As the position is central to the end to end process, the co-ordinator will need to liaise with a range of upstream collaborators from A&R/Management/Label as well as across the whole digital supply chain through to the delivery to partner.
The role will require an individual able to become an expert in UMG systems, and as such troubleshoot and resolve any issues that might arise in an often-complex environment involving many different products at any given time. Developing a deep understanding of how metadata, assets and scheduling & delivery systems all interact will enable the Video Release Co-Ordinator to be more effective in issue resolution and provide the best service to our UK Labels.
The Video Services department as a whole provides support, guidance and services to both local UK labels and to our international territories – as a central team we inform on best practice, file specifications and workflow management. As the digital arena is constantly evolving, so does our knowledge base and video services & we are expected to be a centre of excellence in maintaining quality and standards for video across the company.
The B Side: Skills & Experience
Be Knowledgeable
• Assist in resolution or escalation of incoming video QC and technical issues to editors / production companies or external suppliers as needed.
• Assist on video catalogue analysis projects, reviewing potential to maximise scheduling and delivery opportunities.
• Ensure key partner requirements or specializations are being properly supported by UMG Global Supply Chain (e.g. VEVO / Apple / Spotify) and that priority products are handled correctly.
• Perform outgoing visual review of selected UK & International content to ensure partner compatibility and suitability (Apple).
Be Precise
• Ensure that video assets are correctly ingested at bitMAX (video asset management) and tracked downstream to UMG Global Supply Chain, for delivery to commercial partners.
Be Collaborative
• Liaise with UK based label & marketing departments, metadata department, digital operations and distribution to manage end to end setup and distribution of new release UK video content.
• Attend UK production and marketing scheduling meetings for review and additions to schedules.
• Work closely with in house and 3rd party facility and encoding houses to ensure swift turnaround times for new release video products.
• Communicate effectively and appropriately to a wide variety of internal departments and external management.
• Identify and resolve any downstream distribution issues, in co-operation with UMG Digital Operations and Distribution teams.
• Co-ordinate & communicate with US Label Production contacts to ensure US video repertoire is correctly distributed in UK.
• Assist in other areas of department responsibilities, covering team holidays etc.
• Key representative of Video Services department both internally and externally.
Be Organised
• Working in an often fast-paced environment, resolve or escalate metadata and scheduling issues arising from new release ingestion and the production process.
• Create/update ongoing release schedules, ongoing monitoring of all relevant product scheduling workflows and tasks for new video releases.
• Create or track peripheral elements relating to core product (e.g. images).
• Support catalogue video asset upgrade projects, as directed by UK or USA.
• Manage ad hoc delivery projects, resolving any legacy issues that might arise.
Person specification
Essential
• Computer literate, including Excel.
• Self-motivated, with the ability to work to strict deadlines unsupervised.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Knowledge of digital asset content management or digital distribution.
Desirable
• Good project management skills desirable.
• Knowledge of video standards and formats.
• Understanding of metadata relating to digital delivery.
• Experience using Universal in-house systems or similar digital supply chain environments.
• Experience working across international territories.
