UMG is embarking on a multiyear journey to build a global fan ecosystem and accelerate eCommerce growth. To support this effort, cross-functional teams have been tasked with rapidly building, testing, and scaling high-priority use cases. These use cases require significant advances in knowledge of fans, analytical models, supporting data structures, and data features leveraged to deliver fan experiences.
How we LEAD:
The Sr Manager, D2C Business Development & Operations works with the core eComm, BD and Brand strategy and Partnership team to drive, analyze, structure, and execute on key D2C related initiatives. A lot of focus will be around global execution, partnership execution as well as new business opportunities. The candidate will work closely across the Global eCommerce and business development leadership team. Key stakeholders include but not limited to domestic and international eCommerce teams and music labels.
The Sr Manager, D2C Business Development & Operations’ role is to support fast growing eCommerce sector. The role will ensure overall success for the team, and specifically on executing on key initiatives together with leadership. This cross-functional role will work closely with internal and external teams to build and execute plans for the D2C and eComm organization to meet its financial and strategic goals and to achieve artist and consumer satisfaction. The person will also work closely with the Brand strategy and Partnership team.
This position will work with global peers across financial analysis, strategy, partnerships, tech, A&R, intl operations, and Merch.
This person can be located in Los Angeles, New York, or London.
How you will CREATE:
Analysis
• Assesses new business opportunities for the team - evaluating strategic fit and industry competition
• Analyze and prioritize opportunity sizing and feasibility across projects and new initiatives
Strategy, planning and structure:
• Drive agenda for the Global eCommerce team through creating strategic plans
• Define new D2C related operating models and processes and implement globally
• Structure, implement, and execute key commercial and operational initiatives
• Support in developing worldwide franchise positioning for key artists/brands and comprehensive strategy that grows revenue while protecting brand integrity
• Act as a close conduit with global central and territory teams, building trust and adding value across organizations
Execution:
• Ensure strategic and operational projects and initiatives are being executed and completed, in-line with defined roadmaps and targets
• Work across key stakeholder teams that are needed to ensure success of projects, influence, educate and service to make sure success is reached
• Work cross functionally to integrate UMG goals/stakeholders and leverage UMG assets and resources
• Collaborate with sales, creative, marketing, legal, data & analytics, eCommerce, innovation and label and territory teams to execute strategy
• Establish and execute strategic partnerships/special projects/programs that drive UMG brand awareness, relevancy, brand engagement as well as revenue and margin contribution
Overall Culture
• Assist in creation of a long-term business culture and governance model. Help establishes the methodologies and procedures for eCommerce growth, across operations, merch, design and creative interaction, global scale, tech development, etc
• Will assist other teams in their work and assist as a thought leader across eComm and related areas, eg market insights, local territory needs, partnerships strategy

Bring your VIBE:
• Strong strategy consulting/business development/banking background (5 years minimum)
• MSc in Finance, Business, Economics, Organizational Growth, Operations, Management or similar subject area, or MBA
