Description
How we LEAD:
Universal Music Group is looking for a Senior Director of Asset and Archive Management, Label Services to be a part of Universal Music Group Studio and Archive Management team who will lead the team to provide a superior customer service experience to label partners and external clients as it relates to assets and archive requests and services. The Senior Director of Asset and Archive Management, Label Services will be the key advisor for “direct from archive” requests and activations, including but not limited to; acquiring archive content for artist/album/catalog events, crisis communications, customer queries, fact checking (i.e. documentaries, TV, movies, oral histories etc) public relations, commerce and marketing support.
He/She must be the organizing force and leader in ensuring rapid response time, identifying customer needs, creating personalized solutions and focusing on proactive engagements. This person is skilled at influencing and collaborating with all label departments and artist management, with the strong ability to read and react to client emotions and engagement. The ability to diffuse/de-escalate difficult interactions is imperative, as well as maintaining a level of trust while still being tenacious to achieve goals.
Be responsible to maintain and train staff to be empowered to work independently, proactively and collaboratively on the execution of opportunities. The role will work in tandem with the various departments and territories under the direction of VP, Asset and Archive Management.
How you’ll CREATE:
• First point of contact for label/client services as it relates to audio/video archive needs and requests.
• Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for flawless execution of projects
• Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope
• Act as a label archivist as it relates to making additional recommendations or deeper dives to provide a better experience.
• Build and maintain solid relationships at label, management and artist level
• Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress and revenue against targets and optimize programs to ensure goals are met.
• Manage team of people responsible for supporting catalog and front-line label archive needs
• Oversee day-to-day operation, delegate tasks, set clear goals /deadlines and monitor team performance
• Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture
• Identify training needs and provide coaching to any staff as it relates to client interactions.
• Listen to team members’ feedback, resolve any issues or conflicts, and recognize high performance and reward accomplishments
• Encourage creativity and risk-taking
• Lead team responsible for verifying assets are verified for accuracy and archived both digitally and physically stored properly for future

• Pro-active self-starter able to set and accomplish department goals
• Expert project management skills with “white glove” level of follow up
• Extensive understanding of label frontline music with deep knowledge of label catalog artists and repertoire.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) & presentation skills
• 10-15 years successful working experience in the music industry, with a focus on label and distribution
• First hand experience dealings with artist/management as well as label Senior management.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred
