The A Side: A Day in The Life
Our UMGB Global Insight & Consultancy team leverages the most powerful and effective data sets and research capabilities in the music industry. As well as utilising sales, commercial / partner data, and social media analytics, the team manages extensive consumer survey data from around the world, delivering unique detail into evolving attitudes and behaviours of today’s music consumers.
As part of UMGB, the team directly supports Universal Music Group and Brands (‘UMGB’). UMGB offer a centralized new business and partnership approach to brand, media and agency partners. Accessing the breadth and depth of the Universal Music Group’s incredible roster, assets, and IP, UMGB deliver music based marketing solutions to brands / business partners.
The Senior Analyst is a key role responsible for supporting UMGB’s relationships at a local market level and developing strategic brand partnerships that drive incremental revenue for the company and provide marketing programmes for our artists and brand partners.
The B Side: Skills & Experience
Be Data-Driven
• Quantitative research – survey set-up, questionnaire writing and analysis of large data sets
• Commercial partner data analysis
• Data entry - ensuring databases are accurate and regularly updated
• Social media analytics
• Cultural Trend analysis
Be Commercial
• Brainstorming / ideation
• Development of compelling insight reports
• Data visualization
• Leverage insight projects across disciplines to deliver true value back to key stakeholders and brand partners
Be Collaborative
• Presenting analysis / findings to Universal Music Group and Brands team & external clients
• Handle regular reporting for brands & UMG artist partnerships
• Work closely with the whole Global Insight team, collaborate and work as part of one team
• Collating material daily and bi-weekly for Brand Insight Newsletter
• Managing the research agency relationships, in terms of timelines and project progress to guarantee the delivery of results to the agreed timelines
Person Specification
Necessary
• Proven track record of quantitative research experience in an insight focused role working across multiple clients / brands
• Proven experience to include survey set-up and design, analysis (e.g. cross tab analysis), chart creation, report writing, presenting experience
• Comfortable with large data sets
• Well versed with creating themes and summarizing large open-ended survey responses
• Ability to bring data to life in an intelligent and compelling way
• Strategic thinking
• Comfortable in giving artist-brand based recommendations based on multiple sources; survey, social listening, internal knowledge, partner data and industry factors
• Commercial understanding / business acumen
• Highly numerate and proficient at using Excel and PPT or equivalent
• Passionate about market research - strong advocate for research who truly believes in its value
• Passionate about the music industry - not just music, but the music business overall
• Strong interest in advertising and branding
• Naturally curious and inquisitive about consumer behavior
• A self-starter, confident, pro-active, creative/lateral thinker
• A team player
• Extremely strong attention to detail, organisation skills, ability to multi-task and prioritise
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
• Strong communication and writing skills
