Manager of College & Lifestyle Marketing (West Coast)
JOB DESCRIPTION:
A. Job Summary:
The West Coast Manager of College & Lifestyle Marketing is responsible for the marketing and promotional activities of UMG's College Marketing Reps. The Manager will report to the Vice President, College & Lifestyle Marketing and will work with UMG's labels and various divisions of Universal Music Group to determine priorities for college marketing team and build campaigns to support developing artists online, at retail/lifestyle, at college media outlets, student organizations, and third parties. Based in Santa Monica, he/she will collaborate with College & Lifestyle management team to set day-to-day direction and manage processes for the staff and directly manage College Marketing Reps located in their home locations across the country. Though this position will have a heavy focus on alternative/indie-leaning repertoire, this individual will be an influential contributor to the overall strategy of the department and update the College Marketing management team on key priorities for our labels regardless of genre. This candidate must have a strong handle on online marketing and social media.
B. Job Functions:
• Recruit and hire College Reps in identified markets and colleges
• Direct College Reps to market and promote artist priorities online, through social media,
on campus, at lifestyle accounts as well as music venues and retail.
• Identify college & lifestyle visibility and awareness opportunities including
3rd-party associations
• Support College Reps in their daily business needs
• Generate monthly priority reports to send to label partners
• Lead bi-weekly conference calls with College Reps to review opportunities for growth
and improvement, current and upcoming priority details, and organize occasional
guest speakers
• Attend weekly label marketing meetings and work closely with label product managers
to build campaigns utilizing the College & Lifestyle staff.
• Stay on top of the ever-evolving landscape of social media marketing and handle day
to day development & maintenance of the department's social media properties.

• Ability to interact comfortably and effectively with employees at all levels within our company
• Excellent written, presentation and communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to manage, prioritize and multi-task
• Some experience in managing a team
• Solid experience in setting up regional and national marketing campaigns
• Good understanding of digital marketing opportunities including Twitter, Instagram,
Facebook, and other social applications.
• Some experience and knowledge of college & lifestyle marketing opportunities
• Strength in creativity and efficient use of resources
• Excellent follow-through
• Staying abreast of current marketing and lifestyle trends in general and those
of the college market
• Team player
Technical Requirements:
• Knowledge of and ability to work with Microsoft Office Software including Power Point,
Excel, Word, etc.
• Knowledge of and ability to work with all social applications
