Description
Our commitment to innovation extends to our Human Resources team, which is currently seeking a dynamic Human Resources Generalist for our Santa Monica office. The HR Generalist will serve as the main point of contact for employees, as well as consult on staffing, employee relations, performance management, and employee programs. The ideal candidate will not only have the capability to administer transactional HR processes, but also interact with all levels of the organization. Job Functions:
• Provide functional HR support across multiple business units within Universal Music Group including being the initial point of contact for employees
• Responsible for employee on-boarding and exits, including preparation and processing of all paperwork, conducting new hire orientations and exit meetings, and liaising with admin services and IT on work space and technology logistics
• Provide recruitment support by preparing job descriptions, offer letters, conducting reference checks, and other pre-employment documentation as needed
• Address employee concerns and handle employee relations issues; coach and counsel employees and Generalists to facilitate conflict resolution, conduct intakes and investigations, escalating issues partnering with Director as appropriate
• Handle disciplinary actions and conversations, layoffs and terminations
• Manage a highly transactional, process-driven workload including routing of requisitions related to employee actions (new hires, terms, promotions, transfers, contract increases, terminations etc.)
• Create and maintain org charts
• Support HR Business Partner in day-to-day functional tasks and projects
• Facilitate and help implement key HR initiatives, projects and programs including annual salary planning and bonus process, employee events and programs
• Assist in monitoring and ordering business supplies, processing invoices

Skills & Abilities:
• Understanding of and experience with core aspects of Human Resource Management such as labor law and compliance; staffing; employee relations; performance management
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Strong experience and demonstrated skill in handling a variety of employee relations matters
• Possess strong work ethic; self-motivated with a desire to take initiative and look for ways to improve processes and create efficiencies
• Highly adaptable to a fluid and ever changing work environment
Experience:
• Minimum 3 years of prior Human Resources Generalist experience a must
• Experience practicing HR in a creative industry (music, fashion, television, advertising, etc.) is a plus
• HRIS experience, PeopleSoft a plus
• Strong knowledge in employment laws; multi-state experience preferred
• Proficient in MS Office (word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Visio and/or Org Plus experience a plus
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a relevant field with HR related coursework
