The A Side: A Day in The Life
The role is a post-qualified position within the Global Finance team reporting to the Director, Global Finance Reporting. The Global Financial Reporting team is responsible for: the consolidation of the global operating company results, review of the financial reporting of the operating companies, communicating the results to the corporate shareholder and providing analysis and presentations on group financial reporting to management. The team also closely supports the UMG CFO and UMG Board, and provides assistance to the Heads of Finance in the operating companies.
The B Side: Skills & Experience
Be Financial
• As part of the Global Financial Reporting team, this role will be involved in the completion of the monthly / forecast / plan consolidation processes and procedures including a number of reconciliations and analyse
• Assist in the processing and reporting of monthly results to the corporate shareholder
• Detailed balance sheet and (non-Operating) income statement variance investigations upon the monthly actual and forecast results compared to budget for both group, divisional and operating company level
• Help in the production of quarterly balance sheet deck and other key analysis on the group financial reporting for circulation to key UMG senior financial management
• Reporting of UMG fictive entities in HFM
• Roll forward and update monthly analysis files and templates
• Provide additional off-cycle support to Director, Global Financial Reporting and VP, Global Financial Reporting and Analysis
• Development and maintenance of KPIs for financial reporting
• Ensuring adherence to the UMG accounting policy book and relevant IAS requirements and disclosures
Be Collaborative
• Act as point of contact with key territories on technical accounting issues to resolution
• Liaise with country finance contacts to ensure all the country submissions are accurate, complete and that all supplementary schedules are complete.
• Work closely with Group Finance FP&A to ensure key information & analysis is shared and to make the territory reporting efficient
Person Specification
Necessary
• Team player with strong work ethic
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form. In addition must be able to explain/present results (especially financial) in a clear, accurate and concise form
• Strong interpersonal skills necessary to develop strong relationships with colleagues from the different territories within Universal Music
• Excellent analytical skills and experience building excel spreadsheets up to macro level
• Attention to detail and ability to follow up issues until resolved
• Flexible with ability to multi-task and prioritise
• Ability to manage own workload in a pressurised environment and work to tight deadlines
• Interest in music with an enthusiasm to work within the industry
Desirable
• Knowledge of Hyperion products would be advantageous
