Main Purpose of Role
Background
The UMG Digital Operations department globally facilitates ingestion, encoding and distribution of UMG's digital content to digital retail and distribution channels. This group supports UMG's Operating Companies and labels in the following ways: to set up, deliver and manage the lifecycle of releases in the digital supply chain and in market adhering to UMG's data and asset standards; to onboard and support business partners including content delivery fulfilment; issue resolution with internal and external stakeholders; work to define and drive continuous improvement, and enhancements to support the evolution of the digital marketplace by introducing globally scalable, efficient processes and services.
Role
The Director–Digital Operations provides support to our business with specific focus on the EMEA region. The individual will be responsible for managing the processes to ensure the quality of data presented to the supply chain, and supporting the local production groups to achieve the levels of excellence expected.
Monitor products across the region through the supply chain, ensuring timely delivery as expected by the business and resolving issues both as they appear and in a proactive way. Facilitate and provide process and best practise business solutions to EMEA specific issues in consultation and agreement with the VP, Digital Operations.
Provide support and training to the EMEA territories and their operations teams both through daily operations support and communication and workshop style improvement programmes. Work with local and central stakeholders, including Legal & Business Affairs, Commercial Affairs and Business Development teams, to ensure the successful on-boarding of new business partners. Help UMG adapt to local business partner requirements and to resolve content delivery issues & process business partner service updates.
Excellent people management skills, responsible to select, recruit, induct, develop and manage talent across the Regional Operations function. Drive a focus on customer service and continuous improvement through function & department
Responsibilities
• Managing the EMEA Release & Partner Management team in line with the Digital Operations groups agreed best practises and processes
• Regional lead point of contact for EMEA labels and territories with respect to products
scheduled for digital delivery
• Own and manage end-to-end digital supply chain operations on behalf of EMEA stakeholders
• Drive the departmental plans for change in EMEA and manage the expectations of stakeholders
• Ensure the monitoring of digital products through the supply chain systems and processes until delivery to UMG's digital business partners
• Assessing the EMEA region territories' ability to provide metadata of a consistently high quality in line with system and business partner requirements and working with the territories to improve this where necessary
• Provide technical and ''best practice'' expertise regarding UMG's global digital supply chain processes and systems
• Understanding of local variations in territorial legalities and rights with regard to music
distribution and presenting supply chain solutions to meet these requirements
• Working with central teams and local territory stakeholders, managing the on-boarding of new business partners and their requirements
• Management of business processes surrounding the implementation of new product lines
• Regularly attend meetings with key EMEA based business partners and ensure the smooth delivery of Universal content to the partners.
• Establish and manage regular internal digital supply chain meetings, including international travel, to ensure the gathering, and prioritization, of input from all regional stakeholders is carried out for all supply chain related projects
• Oversee EMEA Apple/iTunes ticketing process, ensuring timely resolution by the team to meet release deadlines, as well as hand offs between regions for priorities.
• Identify global supply chain system & process development areas required for future partner and release management
• Own and drive a continuous service improvement plan
• Provide Regional operational impact assessment of new requirements and changes, covering impact analysis, process design, capability assessment and resource capacity as necessary
Person Specification
Essential
• Experience managing and mentoring staff to provide opportunities for their personal growth and development
• Experience with supply chain processes and systems.
• Able to take leadership and ownership over actively improving / maintaining operational / technical relationship with business development and business partners
• Experience acting as a central coordination and communication point with various senior
and key stakeholders internally and externally
• Ability to evangelise, educate, and promote internal improvements and initiatives
• Ability to promote and drive a customer service focus through the teams
• Comfortable with technical, operational, and commercial aspects and mechanisms of
digital content management and distribution
• Skilled at navigating multiple or conflicting requirements between different parties to determine and deliver the best overall workable solution
• Good project management skills with proven ability to work across multiple functional
areas/disciplines
• The individual must be hands-on, with the training, experience and desire to perform
customer-centric problem-resolution. A proven level of success in a similar role is desired.

Professional
• Bachelor's degree education or equivalent
• Extensive experience within digital operations
• Ability to read/parse XML including but not limited to DDEX ERN and iTunes XML
specifications
• Strong facilitation and influencing skills
• Structured analysis and problem solving
• Excellent knowledge of record industry business processes desirable (Label Marketing,
A&R, Promotions, Production, Manufacturing, Royalties)
• Ability to use project and issue tracking tools like JIRA
• Advanced practical skills in Excel, Word. Desirable experience of Access
