The A Side: A Day in The Life
This position is for a Database Administrator to work on application development projects. The individual will work closely with technical leads and developers to assist in both logical and physical database design along with database & SQL performance tuning. Extensive DBA experience with a number of SQL platforms I.e SQL Server or MYSQL is required along with Datawarehouse experience within Dimension modelling environment.
The B Side: Skills & Experience
Be Technical
• Design database applications, such as interfaces, data transfer mechanisms, global temporary tables, data partitions, and function-based indexes to enable efficient access of the generic database structure
• Design databases to support business applications, ensuring system scalability, security, performance and reliability
• Review and or Develop data models for applications, metadata tables, views or related database structures
• Design and Develop extract load and transform (ETL) and Database design for data warehouse
• Develop or maintain backup processes, archived procedures, procedural codes, or queries for applications
• Develop and document database architectures
• Develop database architectural strategies at the modeling, design and implementation stages to address business or industry requirements
• Demonstrate database technical functionality, such as performance, security and reliability
• We expect everyone on our team to present creative solutions to our technology problems
Be Collaborative
• Collaborate with solution architects, developers, business analysts, and others to understand business or industry requirements
• Create and enforce database development standards and ensure cross-team coordination
• Coach and mentor other developers in our team. Ensure that our ways of working are consistent across the teams
• Integration with other groups in the company related to hosting, DBA support, Server upgrades and server support
• Perform work in development environment, test in staging environment and work with other groups to push changes to production
• Maintain balanced relationships across the business community, technical team, and IT vendors
• Manage client requests and expectations
• Proactively and consistently communicate task status
• Communicate risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies to appropriate stakeholders and escalate if necessary, to ensure the project's success
Person Specification
Necessary
• Ability to communicate with user community, project management, developers, contractors, and all levels of management
• Extensive Database Development experience
• Significant SQL Server experience in a Development environment responsible for design, build and configuration or equivalent
• Significant experience developing in SQL Server Stored Procedures or equivalent
• Data warehouse experience using SSIS or equivalent
• Ability to troubleshoot ETLs developed using SSIS, C#.Net. or equivalent
• Ability to troubleshoot Database mirroring and SQL Always on or equivalent
• Jira (or equivalent) experience
• Worked in Web/Internet, Intranet and/or Extranet development teams or equivalent
• Knowledge of logical and technical database application design
• Critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Strong technical writing ability using department templates and tools
• Knowledge of the software development life cycle
• Database modelling
• SQL Performance tuning or equivalent
• Excellent communication skills in English in written and spoken form
• Significant experience working in an agile environment, preferably in a variety of situations
Desirable
• Have solid Agile (SCRUM) experience or equivalent
• Music industry royalty/copyright or other entertainment industry participation experience
• AWS Cloud Experience
