Universal Music Group is currently seeking a Clearance Coordinator to be responsible for clearance of music rights. Clearance duties include: research of copyright and master recording administration/ownership information; negotiation and coordination of complex music license terms and fee quotes; and, drafting all correspondence and documents (including confirmation letters and other clearance documents).
Job Functions:
• Track upcoming releases to identify potential clearance issues
• Generating clearance requests and other correspondence to the copyright holder and drawing up appropriate clearance documents.
• Negotiate and administer contracts and continually update the department’s database with pertinent information concerning outstanding clearances, contracts, owner information, and royalty data.
• Investigate and respond to rights inquiries.
Job Requirements:
Skills/Abilities:
• Outgoing personality.
• Willingness and pro-activeness to consistently follow up with clearances
• Excellent computer skills and strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to stay on top of multiple initiatives at one time
• Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure
• A self-starter with excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
• Interpersonal skills, highly organized (effectively maintain filing system)
• Task oriented, detailed oriented and able to multitask in a team environment while in high pressure, time sensitive situations.
Experience:
• Experience in an entertainment or media company is preferred
• Familiarity with recording agreements
Education:
• Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
