The B Side: Skills & Experience
We are looking for a passionate and proven Content Manager to join Studio Island: Island Records’ in-house creative division, based both remotely and at our Kings Cross, London HQ. You’ll be responsible for commissioning and creating highly engaging pieces of content across multiple platforms for a diverse roster of artists and will report directly to the Creative Director Daily duties include:
Be Creative
• Concepting and delivering brilliant content ideas that speak to an artist’s DNA
• Commissioning short and long-form content which includes and is not limited to: personality pieces for artist social channels, music videos, live music / tour content, content series, animations, visualisers, lyrical content, behind the scenes, interviews, teasers, TV formats
• Leading artist specific content days from briefing to delivery with support and collaboration from the marketing and audience teams
• Practical creative experience such as (but not limited to): videography/filming and editing/photography/animation/design - a plus but not essential
• Liaising with production companies, agents and social content creators you’re excited by
• Liaising with glam (stylist, hair, make-up teams) and respective agents and adhering to the Universal Rate Card budget framework.
• Having a diverse network of impactful creators that you’re excited to align with our artists - if you don’t have the idea yourself you know exactly who will
• Always striving to push boundaries that set our artists apart from the rest of the pack
Be Digital
• In-depth understanding of internet culture and active user of social media and gaming platforms like: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube / Twitch.
• Thinking about ideas and platform simultaneously and ensuring online engagement is a primary objective
• Being trend aware and working quickly to maximise opportunities online
• Working closely with the marketing and audience teams to ensure audience insight and strategy is at the heart of decision making when creating content
• Managing content delivery from external parties e.g. production houses
Be Collaborative
• Liaising with artist managers and key contacts diligently and professionally at all times
• Creating compelling briefs / presentations that get artists and creators excited about a project
• Working closely with marketing teams to ensure content is delivered within an agreed timeframe and to budget
• Working closely with our in-house agency, Globe, to source and integrate brand partners within content pieces
Be Administrative
• Being a detail-oriented creative when it comes to approving work with overall accountability
• Having a good understanding of production costs/budgets and feeling comfortable negotiating and ensuring projects represent good value for the artist and label
• Budgeting in Uniport; including approving quotes, raising POs etc and ensuring suppliers are paid on time
• Creating detailed budgets, call sheets and schedules
Person Specification
• Passionate about music in all forms
• Positive attitude and collaborative approach to projects and working with colleagues
• Proven track record delivering high impact and varied content in your relevant field
• Experience working in a fast-paced, quick turnaround environment - music industry a bonus but not essential
• An understanding of how budgets work, scope of work and realistic deliverables
• Highly organised with the ability to keep calm under pressure
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work with people at all levels within the business
• Flexible and able to prioritise own workload
• Tactful and diplomatic, especially when dealing with Artists and Management
• Software experience with Photoshop and video editing software such as Premiere, excel/ Google sheets - a bonus
