The A Side: A Day in The Life
UMC works closely with legendary labels like Island, Polydor, Decca, EMI and many more to promote some of the world’s greatest music from artists such as The Beatles, Spice Girls, The Chemical Brothers and Bob Marley. The label specialises in marketing campaigns and product development activity from video strategies to vinyl, and from new digital audience growth to collectors’ box sets.
The B Side: Skills & Experience
Through a comprehensive understanding of consumption and sales of UMG catalogue, grow our business by identifying commercial growth opportunities and delivering strategies to address them
Be Managerial
• Prioritise and create plans to address commercial-partner opportunities, leading cross-label teams to deliver them
• Continually improve and optimise performance in core business
• Lead the label’s interaction with and contribution from the UK commercial team, respective international and territory teams (especially the US) and with commercial partners
• Manage commercial relationships and strategy for third-party joint-venture and license partnerships
Be Commercial
• Lead the commercial evaluation of the catalogue, identifying and quantifying strategic opportunities (by project, format, partner, channel, territory, artist etc)
• Reporting and review of commercial results to share learnings and optimise future label activity
Be Strategic
• Secure the greatest awareness and support from digital and physical commercial partners, aligned with label activity
• Develop long-term plans for building business in key commercial channels, including e-commerce, digital business partners, grocery, and specialist retail
• Analysis, forecasting and review of commercial strategies, release/campaign projects, and partner/channel performance
Person Specification
• Proven track record of leading growth and change in commercial operations
• Experienced in defining effective reporting and analytic frameworks to deliver actionable commercial insights
• Ability to lead and develop teams with multiple different skillsets across diverse business operations
• Excellent relationship management skills
• Demonstrated adaptability and continual learner
