Description
How we LEAD:
We are hiring or an Associate Manager, Business and Legal Affairs to join the team.
How you’ll CREATE:
• Effectively codify rights provisions and operating parameters with respect to various agreements (e.g., artist, license, soundtrack, producer, (re)mixer, side artist, and sample agreements) in a rights management system that communicates such rights and operating parameters to downstream commercial teams.
• Liaise with Business & Legal Affairs, A&R Admin, production, and other departments to identify new deals that impact our repertoire; stay abreast of a deal’s negotiation status, contractual amendments, option pick-ups, drop notices, expiration of rights, etc.; make requisite updates to the rights management system; and communicate such updates to relevant departments.
• Actively engage in our Label Process Initiative by: linking agreements to all relevant repertoire and contributors (e.g. link producers to the producer agreement(s) that govern their services with respect to specific songs.); and responding to inquiries/resolving issues that may arise, in an effort to facilitate the release of various projects.
• Obtain necessary approvals from the relevant label attorney, in a timely manner, as it relates to all rights and royalties’ provisions captured in the rights management system.
• Create, maintain, and internally distribute and/or contribute to a variety of status charts and reports on a weekly basis; conduct deal research; and assist label attorneys with ancillary matters as needed.
Bring your VIBE:
• NY/CA Bar admission
• 1-2 years' of legal experience at an entertainment company or related law practice, preferred
• Familiarity with recording agreements;
• Self-starter with the ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment;
• Ability to maintain focus and complete detailed contractual analysis on a regular basis;
• Outgoing personality and strong communication skills;
• Ambition to work toward continual process improvement (improving rights management system and business process, etc.)
