The A Side: A Day in The Life
Ever since the label was founded 40 years ago by Sir Richard Branson, Virgin Records has been at the heart of every seminal moment in music. In March 2013, Virgin joined forces with another illustrious name in music – EMI – to become Virgin EMI Records, starting a new chapter in the history of both iconic labels.
From its humble roots as a London based record store, the label has been at the forefront of musical disruptions for over 40 years – prog to punk, new romantics to rave, indie to girl-power.
Bastille, Emeli Sande, Naughty Boy and James Bay continue to carry to torch for the label, making Virgin EMI one of the biggest in the UK today.
