People Operations (HR) Business Partner

The People Operations (HR) Business Partner will partner with specific leaders and departments across the business to support their people and talent needs, champion our culture, and help bring our learning and development mindset to life.
As the go-to people resource for your aligned business areas, you will need to think strategically, be open to execute tactically, and collaborate across a wide range of teams and levels. You will provide agile and dynamic support, and will often pivot between strategic and operational support across a spectrum of people matters, including:
• Talent planning and management
• Coaching and development
• Employee relations
• Performance management
Core Responsibilities
• Build trusted partnerships with leaders and employees across the organization, becoming a go-to advisor on all people-related matters
• Partner with leaders to drive team effectiveness, employee engagement, and organizational performance through thoughtful people strategies and solutions
• Develop a deep understanding of your teams, anticipating business needs and providing proactive guidance that aligns people priorities with organizational goals
• Coach leaders on talent planning, leadership effectiveness, succession planning, and employee development to help build high-performing teams
• Provide expert guidance on performance management, organizational design, compensation, workforce planning, and employee experience initiatives
• Lead and support a range of employee relations matters with empathy, professionalism, and sound judgment, including workplace investigations, conflict resolution, performance concerns, accommodations, and other sensitive employee situations
• Champion and contribute to key People Operations initiatives that enhance the employee experience and strengthen organizational capability
• Analyze employee engagement and survey data to uncover meaningful insights, identify opportunities, and support leaders in creating action plans that drive results
• Leverage workforce trends, employee feedback, and organizational data to proactively identify risks, opportunities, and solutions that improve the employee experience and business outcomes
• Partner with leaders to thoughtfully integrate AI and emerging technologies into the workplace, helping teams build new capabilities, embrace change, enhance productivity, and ensure a people-first approach to workforce transformation
Important Note: Some of the teams supported by this Business Partner role will have operational responsibilities during Blue Jays home games, concerts, and other events.
While attending each of these events is not a requirement of this role, our expectation is that you will have a desire and willingness to maintain some level of presence at these events to better understand and support the teams.
Qualifications
• 5-7 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a Business Partner role
• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to quickly understand business priorities
• Interest in baseball, sports, or live events
• Strong business acumen with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive results
• Resourceful, proactive, and solutions-focused
• Experience managing employee relations matters, including performance management, investigations, and legal partnerships
• Knowledge of Canadian employment legislation and HR best practices
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
• Strategic mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
• Experience coaching and advising leaders at all levels
• Undergraduate degree in a related field; CHRL (or in progress) or equivalent designation is preferred
• Experience with human capital management systems, applicant tracking systems and timekeeping software (Oracle HCM preferred)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Curiosity and practical application of AI and emerging technologies in the workplace
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as required

Salary/Benefits
CAD $80,000 - CAD $105,000 /year CAD
Candidates will be assessed based on their experience, expertise, and ability to perform the responsibilities of the role.
