What we are looking for:
The VP, Technology at Threshold Interactive will be responsible for analyzing business needs, articulating architectural vision, establishing technology strategies, conceptualizing alternative architectural approaches, leading software development teams, and evangelizing technology within Threshold and to Threshold’s clients. The VP, Technology will contribute to our technology capability and our culture of business value and technical excellence.
As the VP, Technology, you will possess a thorough understanding of development methodologies, object oriented analysis and design, development best practices, and the development of highly scalable, maintainable, and secure web solutions. You will ideally have deep experience with the Microsoft dot Net platform, and some familiarity with LAMP and Java solutions as well.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the planning, design, and development of multiple large-scale web solutions, typically based on the Microsoft platform.
• Work under consultative direction toward long-range goals. Assignments are often self-initiated and work is checked through consultation and agreement with others, rather than formal supervisory review.
• Provide innovative solutions to the most difficult of technical challenges and identify opportunities for technology to deliver value-added services and programs to enhance clients’ business results
• Continuously mentor members of Threshold’s development team. Display strong leadership skills and ensure that our team meets our objectives of continually learning and sharing knowledge with one another while building industry leading solutions.
• Partner with the Managing Director and Manager, Software Development to provide high-level strategic technical direction for Threshold’s evolution and for business development efforts.
• Oversee the architecture and development across a number of projects and a number of clients. For these projects, understand the entire application, its usage, technical architecture, and functionality.
• Work with the team to gather and document requirements. Translate requirements into solution architecture. Articulate components of the entire application and its interfaces, from a functional and technical level for both client stakeholders and the team
• Lead the development of one or more projects at a time, and ensure that the solution architecture is translated into high-quality, maintainable, secure, and efficient code that follows the established development guidelines. NOTE: This position requires some hands on development. (Approximately 35% of the overall time.)
• Coordinate with members of client’s technology teams. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and potential clients. A key role of the VP, Technology will be to help shape external perception of our technical expertise.
• Ensure that development quality, cost, and time objectives are met
• Maintain a strong working knowledge of the latest software packages, patterns, and best practices. Continuously push development standards to a level of excellence.
• Lead the development of internal “skunk works” projects. Inspire members of the team to learn new skills and grow as developers.
• Develop strong relationships with current and potential technology partners
Qualifications and Experience:
• Proven leadership capability and experience managing teams developing large-scale web initiatives based on the dot Net Framework. C# experience is strongly preferred.
• Minimum of eight years of web technology experience in some combination of enterprise architecture, software development, systems integration, package implementation, and interaction design
• Experience with leading content management, e-commerce, and profiling / personalization software packages.
• Strong understanding of object oriented analysis and design, including UML and design patterns
• Experience estimating, planning, designing, and implementing n-tier software architectures
• Ability to analyze business requirements and understand business value
• Strong ability to clearly explain issues of reliability, scalability, security, and extensibility with respect to the overall solution
• Mature design skills and the ability to clearly articulate and clarify design tradeoffs to the client
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Passion, diligence, integrity, and exceptional aptitude
• Experience in a consulting environment is a huge plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field. Masters degree in a related field preferred
