POSITION OVERVIEW
The Seasonal Copyeditor, Brand and Editorial is charged with upholding the editorial integrity of the Sundance Institute by temporarily proofing and copyediting the Institute's brand storytelling through the written word.
Working closely under the direction of the Associate Editorial Director and Temporary Managing Editor, the Copyeditor, Brand and Editorial supports by ensuring consistently high-quality copy and products, as well as work collaboratively with writers for our digital products, including our online platform and Sundance Collab.
This temporary position will work full-time from Monday, July 6, 2026 through Friday, October 30, 2026. This role may need to work extended hours, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet deadlines. This is a fully remote position that does not require any onsite work duties.
Top priorities include but are not limited to:
• Editing, fact-checking, and proofreading copy across a wide range of channels.
• Developing, drafting, and publishing original copy for all Institute programs including editorial blogs, invitations, advertising copy, and other materials.
• Writing clear and compelling copy that connects with our varied audiences and drives action.
• Working with stakeholders from across the Institute to assess opportunities related to written content.
• Generating original ideas for new columns and editorial series that will appear on Sundance.org and other platforms.
• Staying abreast of existing and new functions of the Content Management System (CMS) to ensure efficiency and occasionally train others.
• Serving as a guardian for our house style guidelines, making periodic updates and additions as necessary.
• Mining the Sundance Institute in the service of brand impact storytelling, helping to position the Institute as a leader in the industry.
• Keeping informed on culture across different platforms and audiences, and finding ways for the Institute to participate in relevant conversations.
You have the following direct or transferable qualifications and skills:
• 2 years experience copywriting and editing content for print and online publications.
• In-depth knowledge of AP style and entertainment feature editing.
• A proven track record in creating effective email campaigns.
• Experience conducting interviews and writing profile-style pieces with high profile artists and talent.
• Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with a variety of people.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
• Experience working with a range of content management systems (CMS).
• Knowledge of HTML preferred.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
