POSITION PURPOSE:
This position manages a team to provide essential research, forecasting, and relationships, to create a deep and practical understanding of New Media and its impact on performers and further develop new media business opportunities based on their findings. It’s charged with making effective recommendations to the National Director for building SAG’s new media business.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Research projects regarding new media business models and new technology to provide guidance to the Guild enabling proactive protection of members’ interests under current and future contracts.
- Provide expertise in the economics of entertainment and technology companies to forecast future business practices.
- Recommend refinements to SAG contracts and business practices to more effectively and efficiently serve members and the business needs of the new media community.
- Identify and prioritize outreach targets and business development opportunities. Strategically develop relationships and partnerships to encourage a greater and more beneficial new media business for SAG.
- Act as liaison to the entertainment technology community to build and foster relationships to better understand new technology and its effects on the entertainment industry. This includes participating in outreach, events, workshops, inquiries, training, and industry relations.
- Collaborates with Organizing, Communications, Research and Economics, and Contracts’ departments nationally to achieve Guild-wide new media objectives.
- Provides, guidance, and oversight of new media research and business development staff; evaluates and coaches employee performances; hires new employees; resolves employee relations matters;
- Attends committee meetings; educates members on complex technology and contract issues.
- Coordinates and prepares agenda for various technology-related committees as needed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Management experience and demonstrated leadership skills required to effectively manage team and individual contributors

• Able to use PC and Mac applications

• Must be able to work in a very stressful environment where constructive feedback from others is encouraged
• Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined at SAG’s sole discretion
• Must be available and willing to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays, as SAG determines is necessary to meet its business needs
• Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as the SAG determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience:
4+ years new media experience. 2-3years management/supervisory experience
BA required.
Proven track record in successful business development and market research
Pre-existing new media business contacts a plus.
Entertainment labor union experience a plus.
