KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• In addition to strong technical and programming skills, the ideal Animation TD will have some understanding, or desire to learn about the general workflow and structure of the Animation and Layout departments.
• Will be a bridge between the pipeline and the Animation/Layout departments, designing tools to improve and speed up artist workflow.
• Will also help to troubleshoot and problem-solve technical and pipeline issues that artists may encounter in the course of their shot work.
• Improve department workflow and techniques by troubleshooting Animation/Layout issues related to tools and caching issues.
• Interacts and works with other related departments and specific show leads.
• Creates scripts allowing for automation of specific tasks.
• Identifies and solves complex, systematic problems in the domain of the tools, plug-ins, pipeline and overall workflow development.
• Leverages current technology research and development trends to innovate and advance Scanline's technologies.
• Maintains and supports existing tools; fine-tune and troubleshoot as needed.
• Writes Technical Briefs and documentation for new developments.
• Partners with Pipeline Management team to identify and schedule tasks.
• Defines, communicates, and enforces coding standards across team and projects.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• BA Computer Science or VFX related discipline or equivalent experience
• Proven Production experience in VFX, Gaming, or similar development environment as TD.
• Maya, Python knowledge is required
• Maya API and 3D experience is preferred and C++ nice to have
• Experience with rigging, animation and creature FX is a big plus
• Team player who is able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Eye for detail and excellent organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Strong problem solving skills and ability to work collaboratively.
