
Production Legal Associate

The Work:
• Draft, review, and negotiate production legal documents for narrative film and television, including talent, crew, and services agreements, option and purchase agreements, rights documents, releases, licenses, and clearances.
• Manage assigned matters independently from intake through delivery, tracking deliverables and deadlines without being asked.
• Review and analyze business terms, and flag legal and business risk to the responsible partner clearly and early.
• Support distribution and financing matters, including sales agency and distribution agreements.
• Engage directly with clients, respond promptly, and support the partners and overflow work for existing teams.
• Handle confidential client, project, and financial information with absolute discretion.
What We're Looking For:
• Strong drafting skills for transactional and production legal documents, with the ability to review and analyze business terms for film and television transactions.
• Ability to manage multiple matters, communicate clearly with clients and team members, and maintain strong attention to detail and accountability.
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while balancing competing deadlines with a strong sense of urgency.
• Highly self-sufficient and proactive, with sound judgment to manage day-to-day workstreams independently and escalate appropriately.
• Driven, motivated, and persistent in seeing matters through to completion.
• Comfort with legal technology, including practice management and AI-assisted workflow tools currently being adopted.
Education and Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years of in-house or law firm production legal experience for film or television; narrative production experience strongly preferred.
• Distribution legal experience, including sales agency and distribution agreements, a plus.
• Member of the California bar.
Compensation:
Salary range is $110,000 - $150,000 annually, depending on experience.
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to navigate each department at the firm's facilities.
