Title: Assistant Technical Director
Reports to: Production Manager
Location: NYC & LA
productionglue is looking for an Assistant Technical Director (ATD) to join the team from December 2019 to May of 2020. This individual will be assigned to one project for the duration of the contract. The ATD for this project will work primarily from NYC, but will also work from Los Angeles January 27th - February 24th. Must be available to travel, work flexible hours, and weekends.
a day in the life of a glue ATD:
Here's what they do:
Manage the show's Vectorworks drawing file
Drafting of site plans, ground plans, and other required layouts
Drafting of individual custom scenic elements for fabrication vendors/ shops
Manage budgets for elements with vendors as assigned
Work under the guidance of the Technical Director & Production manager to carry out tasks as needed
Manage vendor relationships. Quote & award bids to appropriate vendors as required & on budget
Lead crews of local labor, manage labor schedule & budget
Work directly with clients on certain tasks

Comfortable working in an office setting, rigorous & non-traditional onsite environments, and in all weather conditions.
Have excellent interpersonal & communication skills, both verbal & written.
They communicate by phone with vendors & clients. Equally comfortable communicating in person with staff of all experience levels, from interns to senior leadership
Have outstanding organizational skills & great attention to detail
Take initiative, act responsively, and demonstrate a sense of urgency
Comfortable multi-tasking & working graciously in a fast-paced environment
Work with discretion, diplomacy, and tact across a multitude of work settings, including financial & government agencies

Here's what's required:
Bachelor's degree and/or a minimum of 2 years of live event, entertainment, theater, touring concert and/or production experience in scenic or exhibit fabrication
Strong 3D drafting skills in Vectorworks
Proficient understanding of scenic fabrication. Must be able to submit drawings to shop, manage build with shop, and lead a crew to install onsite
Computer skills: Macintosh OS or Windows platform.
