This is a Part Time Job
Job Purpose
Be a world-class coach and choreographer for the Phoenix Suns Dancers. Be skilled at time management, choreography and current trends. Continue the Suns Dancers legacy by upholding the brand and tradition of class and entertainment. Teach the team how to represent the Suns with pride and passion. This is a part-time, hourly position reporting to Sr. Manager, Dance and Entertainment.
• Primary (Essential) Duties
• Assist Sr. Manager with planning of Suns Dancers weekly rehearsals and game day court rehearsals for 18 Suns Dancers
• Assign new formations per game for routines, introductions, timeouts, box formations and center-court split as well as assign dancers for in game contests
• Attend all Suns Dancers rehearsals and Phoenix Suns home games, select community and Suns events
• Attend additional international events booked by the NBA as needed
• Assist Sr. Manager in securing season sponsorships, including, but not limited to: gym, makeup, hair, tanning and waxing
• Schedule and secure hair consultations with dancers and stylists and plan annual makeup seminar
• Assists Sr. Manager in planning and executing two (2) Suns Dancers photo shoots each year, be main point of contact for hair and makeup sponsors
• Process weekly payroll for rehearsals, games, appearances and assists with collection of revenue for external appearances
• Manage all external and internal appearance requests, including: requests, assignments, follow ups and payment
• Assists Sr. Manager in managing Suns Dancers social media outlets and the Suns Dancers website on Suns.com
• Maintain the dancers' master calendar (game rotation, requests off and appearances)Assists Sr. Manager with dancer committees (social media, costume, props and accessories and music)Assists Sr. Manager in designing and ordering costumes, maintain sizing and ordering of shoes, poms, tights, additional specialty costumes
• Ensure dancers are upholding brand standards onsite at games, appearances and interactions with fans
• Choreograph new routines and sidelines as well as assist Sr. Manager in securing additional choreographers for new routines
• Assist Sr. Manager with dancer integration for specialty halftime performances with Suns Entertainers and guest performers
• Maintain an active calendar, and share, as needed, with necessary parties, such as Sr. Manager and VP, Game Entertainment
• Work with additional coaches throughout the Phoenix Suns organization to develop new ideas and performances
• Regularly attend and contribute to department meetings, providing creative input, ideas and brainstorming
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other related computer skills requires
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure
• Strong organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail required
• Ability to work independently without supervision, be self-directed and demonstrate initiative.
• High athletic fitness level
Experience/Education Requirements
• 2 years of professional dance experience, either collegiate or professional
• College degree or equivalent experience preferred
• Coaching experience preferred
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
• Flexible schedule to include weekends, evenings, and some holidays to meet business needs
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time during practices and games
• Should be physically able to choreograph for the team
