Senior Counsel

We are seeking a Senior Counsel with extensive experience in news and media law, transactions, and digital distribution. The group works in a demanding and fast-paced environment requiring quick and creative thinking and rapid-response counseling, swift and sound risk assessment, and excellent judgment. The Senior Counsel will work with an expert team of collegial and dedicated lawyers and will help manage and mentor junior lawyers on the team. The Senior Counsel will advise on all aspects of newsgathering, pre-publication content review, and post-publication matters, and will be responsible for contract drafting and review.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• JD degree with excellent academic credentials; admitted to the New York Bar
• At least 8 years’ background in news review and media law or litigation. Also skilled in contract drafting and review for digital distribution, technology, and content licensing. Experience includes production and services agreements.
• Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Outstanding negotiation skills
• Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad variety of legal matters
• Ability to efficiently and effectively handle multiple projects with minimal day-to-day oversight/direction
• Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment and to thrive under deadline while performing multiple tasks for a diverse and skilled client base
• Litigation experience is a plus!
