Role Details:
The year ahead for ViacomCBS is an exciting one. Our new broad pay streaming product Paramount expands the company's scaled assets in film and TV, including world-renowned brands, and reaffirms and expands the value of entertainment, news, and sports - through on-demand and live experiences - for audiences around the world. To help us navigate this rapid expansion, the CBS Interactive Creative Marketing team is actively seeking a Director of Motion Design Operations to work cross-functionally with internal partners, and agencies to drivecreative development. We are looking for a quality individual who has solid experience streamlining creative workstreams, handling high-volume workloads and teams, leading highly complex projects and helping to bring them in on time and on budget. It is important that this individual takes initiative, enjoys digital product development, design, and motion design, being part of and embracing a supportive team environment and wants to have fun.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:
• Support the creation of cutting-edge marketing campaigns
• Partner closely with Project Management to assess workloads, coordinate resources and prioritize project queue
• Provide support to designers, (including equipment, software, templates and support services), making sure they have what they need to do their job, and push back on requests when needed.
• Work with PM team on creative project workflow by planning, tracking, managing, and driving all steps in the creative life cycle, including dependencies
• Lead contingency plans for urgencies, pivots, and unforeseen events
• Champion the adoption of and adherence to processes, systems, tools, and workflows used in creative production for the motion design team.
• Collaborate across functions with project managers sand senior leadership to ensure successful implementation of new operational design processes and production workflows to increase efficiency
• Support team leadership on departmental budgeting and planning
• Build, allocate, and track budgets on the project and function level
• Partner with senior creative leadership to forecast future designer needs
• Problem solve technical, creative, and resourcing issues to always maintain a focus on high quality work
• Lead communication of timelines, status updates and potential risks to the project management team. Partner with internal teams to identify issues early and suggest workable solutions
• Meet with Design Directors, Project Managers, Creative Directors and Designers to review workload
• Analyze multiple simultaneous projects for the team and report metrics around project volume and what's been accomplished by using data to drive decision-making
• Work with Designers and Creative Directors to maintain and update templates and style guides on a regular basis
• Use your design experience to review production builds from designers, give them mentorship on how to improve their designs, maintain continuity, and build the most dynamic marketing possible in a positive manner while carrying out brand guidelines
• Research different ways to motivate and encourage the team with new methodologies, tips, tricks, and procedures in everything from motion software to type design and production
• Bepositive, dependable, and inspirational; someone who can bridge the gap between design and the rest of the team, both in creative marketing and beyond
• Be prepared to attend and assist in the production of shoots to help capture the creative assets for all marketing
QUALIFICATIONS
What you bring to the team:
• 8 years' experience in visual and motion design
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud apps, Cinema 4D, and other motion graphics and web design tools
• Experience recruiting, leading, and developing design teams
• A portfolio demonstrating experience with campaigns, websites, apps, and artifacts
• Ability to work both independently and with a team, to mentor, encourage and lead others, proactively gather consensus from multiple internal partners, and be able to change tasks quickly based on shifts in priorities or urgent deadlines
• Experience organizing and innovating visual designs, layouts, and typographies, with high graphic standards
• A keen eye for detail, as well as a mix of both technical skills and creative competence
• Significant experience working in design management/digital marketing/creative agency and/or professional services/consulting
• Proven history of leading complex projects with tight deadlines and multiple dependencies
• Comfortable working cross-functionally with multiple partners at all levels of a corporate organization
• Adaptable and able to change gears quickly when changes happen to processes and/or projects
• Ability to foresee potential risks, communication gaps/conflicts, and proactively work to mitigate them
• Superb verbal and written communication skills with an ability to relay information simply and clearly to creative marketing and cross-functional departments
• Adept at seeing the big picture while also focusing on the details
• A calm, balanced, and level-headed demeanor, while working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
• Solid understanding of common design issues, challenges, and guidelines
• Ability to assist with development and maintenance of internal processes, including formatting, file naming, and archiving
• Excellent communication skills, self-motivation, and enthusiasm
