DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Participate in managing and maintaining all broadcast and technology related equipment within a news focused operation.
• Install, service, and maintain facility broadcast equipment and information technology systems.
• Participate in building maintenance tasks as needed.
• Assist in equipment evaluation and selection.
• Work closely with management and co-workers to ensure company objectives are met.
• Participate in helpdesk tasks for all departments.
• Participate in developing and maintaining SOPs and system documentation.
• Work with Chief Engineer and IT Technician to develop project plans, task lists, and timelines.
• Execute plans/tasks in a timely manner.
• Provide project updates to the Chief Engineer.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Be able to contribute individually and as a member of a team.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Skills:
• 2+ years of previous Broadcast Engineering experience; technical education and technical broadcast experience may be considered in lieu of engineering experience.
• Experience with studio and field production camera systems; robotic camera systems knowledge is a plus.
• Experience with production automation systems; Ross Overdrive experience is a plus.
• Experience with newsroom computer systems; AP ENPS experience is a plus.
• Experience with production graphics systems; Ross Xpression experience is a plus.
• Experience with news media management systems; BitCentral experience is a plus.
• Experience with non-linear video editing software.
• Ability to read and understand system diagrams; ability to terminate IT/Broadcast cabling is a plus.
• Ability to complete tasks working solo or as a member of a team, especially in an environment of interruption by higher priority tasks.
• Microsoft Office fluency and strong communication skills, both oral and written. Fluency in English.
• Low & Mid-level decision making and self-starting. Confidence and Accountability for self-made decisions.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
• Must be able to stand, sit, reach, climb, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters/memos/technical instruction, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the effectiveness of co-workers, work in close proximity with others, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and work indoors with or without climate control.
• Proficient operation of a 4x4 truck in all weather conditions-snow and ice, paved and unpaved surfaces, tight/unmaintained mountain roads.
• Lift, push, pull, carry up to 50 pounds.
• Extended work from ladders and confined spaces.
• Repetitive movements.
• Handle, control, and feel objects, tools and controls.
• Scheduled work period with occasional on-call status.
