Director of Tax (Tampa, FL)
DEPARTMENT: Accounting
REPORTS TO: CFO, Yankee Global Enterprises LLC
JOB STATUS: Full-Time, Exempt
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Director of Tax to support the tax compliance and planning needs of a multi-entity and family office. This role will be responsible for coordinating advisors and reviewing partnership, trust, and individual tax filings; managing investor-level tax communications; and working with advisors to provide proactive tax planning for business operations and individuals.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Oversee, prepare and/or review approximately 200 federal and state tax returns across multiple entities and individuals, plus extensions, estimates, and other form filings
• Assist in quarterly and year-end tax planning, ensure tax-sensitive transactions are accurately captured in financials, and prepare and manage federal and state estimate payments and related documentation
• Create business financial statements as needed
• Continuously review state nexus and nonresident withholding rules to ensure compliance
• Monitor multiple investment life cycles and tax basis
• Respond to federal and state income tax, trust, gift, estate, payroll, and sales tax audits, and coordinate resolution with external advisors
• Calculate tax distributions
• Communicate with external and internal partners and investors regarding K-1s, allocations and tax questions
• Analyze trust distributions for optimal tax planning
• Complete annual cost segregation analysis for four business entities
• Assist with payroll issues and general consulting as needed
• Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience:
• 7 years of direct experience with partnership returns and high-net-worth individual returns
• Bachelor's degree in accounting; Master's degree a plus
• Certified Public Accountant desired (but not required)
• Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain tax complications to a non-tax audience
• High level of organization and attention to detail, with an ability to multi-task and maintain confidentiality
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external advisors
