Management Accountant - Costing (MAT Cover)
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
• Prepare and deliver timely and accurate management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet schedules, and variance analyses.
• Support the month-end close by preparing accruals, prepayments, payroll journals, and benefit-related entries.
• Analysing Moonbug's overall trends and addressing any fluctuations.
• Lead trend analysis at both group and subsidiary level, identifying anomalies, investigating irregularities, and ensuring integrity of reported figures.
• Own the People section of the monthly reporting doc, maintaining all underlying data models, reconciliations, and analytical insights.
• Contribute to the multi-entity financial results.
• Complete the preliminary trend assessment for Candle each cycle.
Payroll, Benefits & Personnel Cost Accounting
• Manage the full Moonbug Global payroll accounting (UK, USA, Korea, OA, Netherlands & Denmark)
• Oversee accounting for health and medical benefits, coordinating documentation, compliance, vendor communication, and invoice review for Moonbug.
• Reviewing, analysing, and reconciling payroll variances
• Manage the full Candle payroll accounting
• Oversee accounting for health and medical benefits, coordinating documentation, compliance, vendor communication, and invoice review for Candle.
• Work closely with HR and Accounts Payable to validate headcount data, payroll allocations, and personnel cost reporting.
• Maintain reliable forecasting inputs for headcount, FTE, and personnel cost trends.
Operational Finance & Transactional Support
• Review, validate, and approve facility, rental, and vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and preventing avoidable penalties, previously incurred $13k.
• Work closely with Accounts Payable and oversee billing platform access to assist Harvey in processing benefit-related invoices and posting journals.
Business Partnering & Cross-Team Collaboration
• Collaborate with finance leadership to refine workflows, strengthen controls, and improve reporting efficiency.
• Assisting the Tax team with the collection, review, and organization of incoming tax documentation.
• Providing financial support to the Marketing team by ensuring accurate accounting of budgeted expenditures, specifically the $400k style guide budget.
• Providing on-site support to HR and Legal teams by supporting invoice processing, coordinating payment workflows, and ensuring accurate and timely submission of all finance-related documentation.
• Review and provide feedback on cost-related commentary (e.g, legal, IT) to improve clarity and alignment within the reporting team.
• Partner with FP&A by providing accurate inputs for forecasting, including People, rent, facility costs, and accounting fees.
Financial Analysis & Strategic Support
• Conduct trend reviews and cost tracking to support operational decision-making.
• Provide analytical support during budgeting and forecasting cycles.
• Prepare ad hoc reports and financial insights for senior leadership.
• Review US vendor agreements and spending patterns to identify potential cost savings.
Compliance, Controls & Process Improvement
• Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting standards, and audit requirements.
• Maintain accurate documentation for financial reporting, audit trails, and regulatory compliance.
• Monitor key balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and timely reconciliation.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and team workflows.
Desired qualifications and requirements
• Strong grasp of accounting principles, GAAP, cost accounting, risk management, and financial analysis.
• Ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and provide strategic insights for business decisions.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Advanced), accounting software, and data analysis tools.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to present complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders and senior management.
• Meticulous accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
• Ability to tackle financial challenges and make informed decisions.
• Efficiently handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines.
