Summary of Position
The VP of Compensation is a strategic leader responsible for designing and implementing enterprise-wide compensation programs and ensuring operational excellence across the entire compensation process. Reporting directly into the CHRO, this role partners closely with senior leadership throughout the company to align HR strategies with business objectives, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and best-in-class employee experience.
Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain competitive compensation structures, including job architecture, salary ranges, bonus programs, and long term-incentives
• Oversee annual merit and bonus cycles, ensuring accurate modeling, budgeting, and communication
• Work closely with the Finance team to manage the quarterly headcount forecasting process
• Lead annual market benchmarking studies to evaluate salary ranges, bonus structures and long-term incentive structures; Utilize data analytics to identify trends, pay gaps, and opportunities for improvements in compensation programs
• Work closely with the HRIS team and systems, ensuring seamless integration and data accuracy across HR functions
• Streamline all compensation-related processes and ensure compliance with local and federal regulations including annual compliance audits (e.g., EEO reporting, CA pay data reporting)
• Support the CHRO in the preparation of materials for senior executive and the Board’s Compensation Committee
• Stay current on and share with the CHRO and HR team on trends and important legislative changes related to the Company’s compensation programs and policies
• Support and be a thought partner to the CHRO on strategic initiatives and organizational design projects
Qualifications and Skills
• 10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in compensation leadership role
• Strong knowledge of compensation design & incentive programs
• Excellent communicator and problem solver with the ability to multi-task, meet constantly changing deadlines, and possess excellent interpersonal skills
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and thriving in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Ability to balance structure with creativity; open to innovative approaches rather than rigid frameworks.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and HRIS systems; experience with SAP SuccessFactors is a plus
• Demonstrate a very high level of attention to detail, be very organized, and work well in a fast-paced environment
• Has a collaborative presence and fosters strong relationships across functions.
• Adaptable to shifting priorities and organizational needs without losing focus on long-term goals.
• A college degree in Human Resources, Business Management or related field is required, and CCP designation is strongly preferred.
