Producer
Lily House Studio
Los Angeles, CAThis is a Freelance Job
Producer / Production Manager
ROLE DESCRIPTION
In Search Of… Healing is a seven-episode documentary series from Lily House Studio following filmmaker Jhaynane Bastien across seven American West destinations as she explores healing, recovery, place, and the people who help us rebuild. The production combines intimate documentary storytelling, travel, practitioner experiences, and location-based field production.
We are seeking an experienced Producer / Production Manager to own the day-to-day production operation across the full slate. This is not a purely administrative producer role. The right person can translate creative intent into a realistic production plan, keep a lean documentary crew moving, anticipate problems before they become emergencies, and give the Studio Director clear visibility into schedule, budget, logistics, and risk.
COMPENSATION + ENGAGEMENT
• Freelance, project-based contractor
• Rate: $65/hour
• Approximate project slate: 24 weeks across pre-production, field production, wrap, and production-to-post handoff
• This engagement is contingent on production financing and will activate when the applicable financing threshold is reached
• Hours will vary by production phase and are not guaranteed
• Approved production travel, lodging, ground transportation/mileage, and per diem are covered as separate production expenses.
QUALIFICATIONS
• 5-7 years of production experience in film, television, and documentary production, ideally including unscripted, travel, factual, or comparable location-based work
• Demonstrated ability to manage multi-location productions with small or lean crews
• Strong command of production calendars, call sheets, crew coordination, travel logistics, releases, permits, and production paperwork
• Experience tracking production budgets and making disciplined tradeoffs under real constraints
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Highly organized, responsive, and comfortable managing many moving pieces without constant supervision
• Strong judgment under pressure and a practical, solutions-oriented approach to field production
• The instinct to see a production problem coming before it becomes an emergency and act early enough to solve it
• Strong outreach, booking, follow-up, and relationship-management skills
• Los Angeles-local and available for regular California and periodic out-of-state production travel
• Ability to protect both the creative goal and the production reality
• Comfortable working in a founder-led, independent studio environment where systems are being built while the work is being made
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience with documentary series, road/travel productions
• Experience with outdoor, trail, road-trip, remote-location, or limited-connectivity production
• Production experience in Arizona, Oregon, or other Western U.S. locations
LOCATION + TRAVEL
Los Angeles-local is required.
This role includes regular production travel throughout California and periodic out-of-state travel. Current production planning includes Arizona and Oregon in addition to California locations.
Candidates should be comfortable with multi-day road productions, outdoor and trail locations, variable weather, early calls, changing logistics, limited cell service, remote or semi-remote locations, and production blocks that require overnight travel. Approved production travel, lodging, ground transportation or mileage, and per diem are covered as separate production expenses.

per hour
