Job Overview
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Impact & Partnerships, the Coordinator supports the planning, implementation, and evaluation of community engagement initiatives that deepen the impact of PBS SoCal's content and strengthen relationships across Southern California. This role is integral to projects from planning through execution and contributes to department strategy through strong organization, communication, reliability, and an entrepreneurial mentality.
The ideal candidate is curious about Southern California's diverse communities and cultures, and enjoys building relationships while managing multiple priorities.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
35% Community Engagement
• Coordinate and implement community engagement initiatives, including events, promotional activities, partner collaboration, and audience engagement efforts.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with a diverse portfolio of community partners, stakeholders, and organizational collaborators.
• Represent PBS SoCal at community meetings, events, and cross-sector partnerships
35% Communications & Operations
• Manage department communications, including newsletters, website content, RSVP platforms, and other public-facing engagement tools.
• Coordinate scheduling and logistics for PBS SoCal's Community Ambassador program.
• Coordinate monthly studio tour program, including scheduling and communication with participants
• Maintain department inventory, event supplies, and engagement materials.
• Participate in cross-functional teams and organizational initiatives.
• Conduct daily business and represent PBS SoCal with professionalism, integrity, and excellent customer service.
• Support the Senior Director and Senior Manager with other duties as assigned.
20% Career Pathways
• Coordinate PBS SoCal's high school career pathways portfolio, such as classroom visits, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
• Support administration of the organization's internship cohort program.
10% Research and Evaluation
• Research a broad range of topics to support departmental priorities, including community issues, potential partners, vendors, venues, industry best practices, and emerging trends; present findings that inform decision-making across department initiatives.
• Collect, analyze, and report engagement data to measure impact and inform initiatives.
• Contribute ideas and recommendations that support departmental planning and strategic priorities.
Qualifications:
• Two or more years of relevant experience in community engagement, nonprofit organizations, public service, education, partnerships, communications, event coordination, or related fields. Relevant internships, volunteer leadership, and educational experience may be considered.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); experience with CRM or database systems is a plus.
• Experience collecting or interpreting qualitative and quantitative data is preferred.
• Demonstrated curiosity about Southern California's communities, history, cultures, and civic landscape.
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and analytical communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team environment.
• Reliable transportation available to travel throughout Southern California for meetings, events, and to transport materials when needed.
• Flexibility to attend evening and weekend events
• Live Scan and DMV check are required for this position
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the Coordinator, Impact and Partnership Coordinator will need to be able to move and navigate in many different types of physical environments, such as office buildings, school sites, movie theaters, and outdoor recreational spaces. The Coordinator, Impact and Partnerships, must also be able to effectively communicate with the many stakeholders, including the community and organizational partners. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Work Environment
The working conditions are primarily in a general office or home setting. However, the position will require off-site travel to donors and local community partners as necessary.
Salary/Benefits
$27.00 - $29.00 /hour USD
