The Walt Disney Studios encompasses the creation, production, promotion, sales, acquisition and domestic and international distribution of live-action and animated motion pictures, DVD releases, live stage plays, and music and soundtrack recordings.
Job Description
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures (WDSMP) seeks a Paralegal to draft, review and negotiate contracts, and provide general legal and administrative support to WDSMP with particular emphasis on production matters. This includes: drafting and negotiating motion picture contracts for locations, leases and equipment under supervision of project attorney; preparing summaries and reports; assisting with data entry and maintaining files and databases; and assisting the team with other special projects as may be necessary from time to time.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Draft, review and negotiate location agreements and leases for production of live action motion pictures under supervision of project attorney.
• Draft, review and negotiate equipment rental and other vendor agreements for production of live action motion pictures under supervision of project attorney.
• Compare and proofread agreements and related materials.
• Coordinate execution and distribution of approved documents.
• Prepare legal correspondence at direction of project attorney, including termination letters, extensions and amendments.
• Respond to legal inquiries; raise and escalate legal issues as necessary.
• Maintain library of agreements for locations, leases and equipment.
• Assist project attorney in preparation of restrictions memos for each motion picture production.
• Work closely with project attorney and production team on issues arising in motion picture production.
• Track and prepare reports relating to status of production agreements.
• Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned or requested.
• Maintain calendar, schedule meetings and provide phone support
• General administrative duties such as copying, filing, etc.
• Such additional, alternative, removed or changed responsibilities as may be directed from time-to-time by a supervisor, without advance notice.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of four years experience in contract negotiation. Experience with entertainment production and motion industry preferred.
• Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience in a law firm or media company preferred.
• Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Familiarity with Intradoc a plus.
• Fluent in English.
