Full Job Description
Insomniac is seeking a highly motivated and proactive Production Designer. This role will be responsible for managing various aspects of show management from pre-production through post-production. This is not a remote position and requires travel on site at various event locations and at offices as needed.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate with design stakeholders (Clients, Executive Producers, Artist Management, Internal Departments) to bring creative concepts to life
• Create design decks for assigned shows and projects
• Design thematic elements for fabrication and work with CAD Specialist to create technical drawings
• Create 3D renderings and lighting plots for event elements and themed areas
• Approve onsite assets (furnishings, tenting, etc.)
• Create concept art for assigned projects
• Ensure technical drawings accurately reflect design concepts
• Oversee project installations and ensure production elements are constructed as designed
Qualifications
• 7+ years of experience as a designer or in a related position
• 5+ years of event coordination/planning and execution
• Proficiency in at least one of the following 3D software applications: SketchUp, Maya, Blender, Revit, or 3ds Max
• Ability to export to AutoCAD
• Proficiency in spreadsheets, Apple OS, Google Suite, Airtable, Asana
• Ability to supervise and manage staff
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Must be able to travel, work nights/weekends/holidays
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in varying climates
