Role Overview
The Manager, Publicity & Awards will support a diverse portfolio of film, television, and corporate clients and will take a leading role across film and television launch campaigns, awards campaigns, publicity initiatives, and industry events. The role requires a deep understanding of entertainment publicity, awards strategy, events, and campaign execution, with interest or experience in marketing and advertising as well.
The ideal candidate is passionate about film and television, highly organized, proactive, detail-oriented, strategic, and thrives in a dynamic, boutique environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, maintain high-level industry relationships, and contribute meaningfully to campaign strategy and execution.
Core Responsibilities
Publicity & Media Relations
• Pitch and secure earned media opportunities across national, entertainment, trade, and mainstream outlets including print, digital, television, radio, and podcasts.
• Support and oversee comprehensive launch and awards campaigns including pitching, drafting press releases, press management, and event coordination.
• Book press participation and coordinate onsite logistics for red carpets, junkets, press conferences, roundtables, and other engagements.
• Draft compelling moderator briefing documents for press and talent moderators, including campaign-aligned talking points and tailored questions.
• Maintain and regularly update critics lists, press lists, editorial calendars, and industry tracking documents.
• Support outreach efforts to key voting groups including critics groups
• Compile and format daily press breaks, status reports, critics grids, reaction memos, and campaign recaps.
• Secure approvals for and organize key quotes, review fragments, and media compilations for marketing materials.
• Maintain awareness of the competitive awards landscape by engaging with industry pundits, media, and campaign tracking resources.
• Contribute to the creation of competitive landscape reports and analyses.
Events & Industry Relations
• Liaise with vendors including screening rooms, venues, and event production partners to ensure seamless execution of special screenings, premieres, junkets, Q&As, and tastemaker events.
• Coordinate venue holds, releases, and communication with client finance and operations contacts.
• Organize logistics and talent handling for press days, junkets, premieres, awards screenings, and industry events.
• Manage and maintain key organizational documents.
• Manage RSVP lists daily, ensuring accurate records, and achievement of attendance targets.
• Support the development and execution of onsite plans for moderators, talent, and VIP guests.
• Thoroughly review screening reports and event recaps and distribute client-facing materials in a timely manner.
• Oversee front-of-house operations, hospitality, and overall guest experience at screenings and campaign events.
• Manage event staffing operations for assigned accounts, including recruiting, scheduling, and onsite supervision when applicable.
Marketing & Advertising
• Develop fluency in paid and sponsored opportunities offered by guilds, entertainment organizations, trades and industry vendors.
• Partner with leadership to recommend paid opportunities aligned with campaign strategy and overall goals.
Team Management & Operations
• Enlist other team members for and provide guidance on maintaining campaign documents, trackers, schedules, and reporting materials - while never being above handling tasks yourself; this is an all-hands-on-deck environment.
• Take lead on regularly maintaining company-wide organizational resources including press lists and editorial calendars.
• Ensure exceptional organization, communication, and follow-through across all assigned workstreams.
Strategic Planning
• Develop clear annual, seasonal, and monthly goals and corresponding action plans aligned with personal and company-wide objectives.
• Successfully manage assigned workstreams and day-to-day responsibilities while contributing to broader company initiatives.
• Support leadership in identifying opportunities to optimize campaign strategy, operational efficiency, and client impact.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree preferred, ideally in Communications, Marketing, Film, or a related field.
• 4-6 years of studio, network, streamer, or agency experience in entertainment publicity, awards campaigns, events, or related fields.
• Experience working on both launch and awards campaigns for film and television.
• Strong relationships with entertainment, trade, and mainstream journalists preferred.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
• Ability to think creatively and strategically while executing efficiently.
• Familiarity with entertainment guilds, awards timelines, and industry organizations.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required during peak campaign and awards season.
