IndieWire is the leading digital brand devoted to curating, reporting, and celebrating the best in film, TV, and entertainment – and we're looking for a Marketing Associate to help bring that mission to life across events, sales, editorial, educational programming, and brand identity. This role is based in our Los Angeles headquarters.
Primary Responsibilities:
Event marketing
• Create digital invitations, RSVP materials (including splash pages and confirmation emails), print and digital signage for IndieWire’s slate of FYC and Future of Filmmaking events and summits.
• Liaise with business and editorial teams to build out invite lists for FYC and consumer/Future of Filmmaking events.
• Conduct grassroots outreach to filmmaker organizations and educational institutions to expand IndieWire’s reach with emerging filmmakers and students.
• Manage barter relationships with unions, guilds, film organizations, festivals, and more.
• Support Director of Events with onsite marketing and event logistics as needed, bringing IndieWire brand to life in the room.
Sales marketing
• Collaborate with the sales team to develop media kits, client pitch decks, custom proposals, house ads, and campaign wrap reports.
Editorial & brand marketing
• Work with marketing and editorial to create original art, graphics, and other visual creative assets for stories, site pages, email and social media.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• At least 1 year of experience in events or marketing, ideally in entertainment or publishing.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Occasionally work outside normal office hours for live events (awards shows, film festivals, etc.) or breaking news.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Understanding of the IndieWire brand and independent film community it champions.
• Event marketing background is a plus.
• Experience with online registration/ticketing platforms a plus.
• Graphic design skills a plus, including knowledge of Canva.
• Experience with film festivals, guilds, entertainment events in Los Angeles a huge plus.
