Reach new audiences and deliver award-winning journalism through short-form video storytelling online and on social media.
Video is a critical part of how we engage audiences and deliver award-winning journalism across platforms. In this role, you'll create content for our website, mobile app and social media feeds, focusing on storytelling through short-form vertical videos.
What will you do?
• Shoot, edit and produce unique and original content for platforms like YouTube, Instagram and TikTok.
• Identify video opportunities and work with editors and reporters to meet monthly goals and deliverables.
• Create content from the field, including live events and breaking news.
• Collaborate with newsroom teams on special projects and promotions.
What will it take to be successful?
Candidates should come ready to join a fast-paced news environment with urgent video needs. You'll work with Audience Team editors to understand priorities and workflows, and collaborate closely with the Visuals team and other newsroom hubs to produce engaging short-form videos.
Other qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field
• Advanced video editing skills (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, Canva)
• Two to three years of experience producing newsroom social media content, preferably videos
• Strong news judgment and understanding of social audiences and online trends
• Ability to write social scripts and optimize videos for visibility
• Experience coaching others to be camera-ready
Our staff works in the office at least three days a week.
