GULFSHORE PLAYHOUSE SEEKS WIG AND MAKEUP SUPERVISOR
Status: Full-time, year-round position, Overtime Exempt
Start Date: September 8, 2026
The Wig and Makeup Supervisor reports to the Costume Shop Manager and will work closely
with the Wardrobe Supervisor and is responsible for the wigs and makeup on each production.
The Wig and Makeup Supervisor will coordinate rental/purchase/build of all hair elements. They
will work with the Costume or Wig designer to fulfill artistic goals. They will be responsible for
choreographing quick changes, maintaining the wigs during the run, and providing any training
necessary to seasonal staff. Additionally, they will work with wardrobe crew for assigned shows
and assist other departments as needed.
The ideal individual will have a strong drive to provide high-quality work, the ability to exercise
good judgment in a variety of situations, strong written and verbal communication,
organizational skills, and the ability to work as part of the team. Gulfshore Playhouse values hard

work extended hours on occasion when necessary to meet goals. Some weekend and evening
hours are required including attendance at performances, special events, and/or meetings that
may happen outside normal scheduled hours.

• Proficiency in creating and maintaining wigs

Duties:
• Coordinate the purchase, rental, or build of all hair and makeup needs within the budget
set out by Costume Shop Manager
• Complete assigned styles as specified by the Costume or Wig Designer within time and
budget constraints.
• Supervise work of Seasonal Hair Assistant - set working schedules, provide training, set
guidelines and oversee work.
• Fit actors for wigs and facial hair.
• Assist in the construction and styling of wigs.
• Maintain, style and upkeep wigs and hair throughout the run of assigned productions.
• Keep inventory and stock actors' supplies with appropriate materials, and work with
Costume Shop Manager to acquire/restock when necessary.
• Instruct actors on makeup application appropriate to their character.
• Attend and participate in all technical rehearsals, crew calls, technical notes and
performances as assigned.
• Provide assistance to other departments during the run of a production that includes, but
not limited to, assisting with wardrobe changes or prop handoffs.
• Assist with the load-in and strike of all wig, hair & makeup elements.
• Load-in, set up and load-out all hair and makeup for each production.
• Acts as member of wardrobe crew on assigned shows - specifically education productions.
• Read all reports and act on any notes.
• Provide assistance in other departments as needed.
• Adhere to all safety protocols at all times.
• Provide support for special events.
• Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• 4 years of experience in the field
• BFA or equivalent work experience
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment
• Ability to work in dark spaces
• Ability to stand for long periods of time depending on assignment
• Ability to work in and with proper personal protective equipment
• Ability to safely operate shop equipment and tools
