OVERHIRE ELECTRICIAN - Gulfshore Playhouse
GULFSHORE PLAYHOUSE SEEKS OVERHIRE ELECTRICIAN
Status: Temporary hourly position
Contract Dates: November 9, 2026 - November 26, 2026
The Electrician will work as board operator/crew on assigned shows and assist other departments when needed.
The ideal individual will have a strong drive to provide high-quality work, the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and ability to work as a part of the team. Gulfshore Playhouse values hard work, kindness, generosity, passion, and grace-under-pressure. Employee will be expected to work extended hours on occasion when necessary to meet goals. Some weekend and evening hours are required including attendance at performances, special events, and/or meetings that may happen outside normal hours.
Skills:
• Knowledge of ETC Lighting Consoles
• Knowledge of ETC fixtures and intelligent light fixtures
• Knowledge in troubleshooting and repairing lighting fixtures and equipment
• Experience in hanging, circuiting, and focusing lighting fixtures
• Experience reading lighting plots and other lighting paperwork
• Creative problem-solving
• Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
• Ability to manage time and productivity effectively
• Ability to multitask and achieve tight deadlines
Duties:
• Runs lighting console for assigned shows throughout the season
• Performs the pre and post show checklists
• Troubleshoot and repair lighting fixtures during the run of the show
• Attend lighting hang and focus for each production
• Read all reports and act on any notes
• Provide assistance in other departments as needed
• Adhere to all safety protocols at all times
• Provide support for special events
• Any other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• One to two years experience in the field (including at the college level)
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment
• Ability to climb ladders, use mobile lifts, catwalks and work at heights
• Ability to work overhead with heavy equipment
• Ability to work in tight, enclosed spaces including ones in the air
• Ability to work in dark spaces
• Ability to stand for long periods of time depending on assignment
• Ability to work in an environment with haze and strobes
• Ability to work in and with proper personal protective equipment
• Ability to safely operate shop equipment and tools
Compensation: $20/hr Overtime after 40 hrs
Gulfshore Playhouse provides a travel stipend and housing during the contract
