Junior Counsel

EMPIRE is an independent label, distributor and publisher based in San Francisco, CA.

You will be working with the Legal team. As junior counsel, you'll assist the Legal team with various projects and tasks. We're looking for a motivated, organized and ambitious junior attorney to contribute to our team. This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to begin their legal career and work in the music industry by working at a top of the line record label and honing their skills.

What you'll be doing

Draft and negotiate licensing, publishing merchandising, producer and side artist agreements
Provide general in-house legal support
Assist in a variety of copyright, trademark and IP issues
Perform legal research
Rights management

Requirements

Experience in the music industry
Recently passed the California Bar or gearing up to take the California Bar
Strong administrative skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
You understand the importance of confidentiality and discretion
Ability to juggle multiple projects at a time and complete tasks fully through
You're not afraid to ask questions and learn as you work
You can work independently
You're extremely organized
You are reliable
Be a team player, open to feedback and strong communication.
Live in the San Francisco area or willing to relocate
