New York, NYThis is a Part Time Unpaid Internship
Job Overview:
We are seeking a creative, social-media-savvy Social Media & Content Intern to help grow the online presence of an emerging music artist across TikTok and Instagram. The artist already has a library of video and photo content and is looking for someone who can take that raw content and turn it into engaging, platform-native short-form videos designed to increase reach, engagement, and artist discovery.
This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who lives on TikTok and Instagram, understands current trends, and is excited about music, content creation, and artist development. You will have significant creative freedom to experiment with different editing styles, hooks, captions, sounds, trends, and posting strategies to determine what resonates with audiences.
The ideal candidate is proactive, creative, and genuinely interested in helping an emerging artist build a recognizable social media presence. This is an unpaid internship for the initial 3-6 month period, with potential for compensation thereafter based on experience, performance, consistency, and mutual interest.
Duties
* Repurpose existing artist video and photo content into engaging TikTok and Instagram Reels.
* Edit and manipulate raw footage to create compelling short-form content, including cutting clips, adding text, captions, music, transitions, hooks, and other creative elements.
* Maintain a consistent posting schedule across TikTok and Instagram.
* Research current TikTok and Instagram trends, sounds, formats, and content styles relevant to music and emerging artists.
* Develop creative ways to package existing content to maximize views, engagement, shares, saves, and follower growth.
* Create multiple variations of content when appropriate to test different hooks, edits, captions, and formats.
* Write engaging captions and select relevant hashtags, keywords, and sounds.
* Identify opportunities to capitalize on trending content while maintaining the artist's overall brand and identity.
* Monitor post performance and use analytics to identify what types of content are generating the strongest results.
* Make recommendations for future content based on performance data and emerging social trends.
* Help develop and maintain a consistent visual and creative identity across the artist's social platforms.
* Stay up to date on changes to TikTok and Instagram algorithms, features, and best practices.
* Collaborate directly with the artist to brainstorm new content ideas and social growth strategies.
Skills
* Strong understanding of TikTok and Instagram Reels and what makes short-form content perform.
* Demonstrated ability to edit engaging short-form video content.
* Experience with video editing tools such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Canva, or similar platforms.
* Strong creative instincts and an eye for identifying compelling moments within longer videos.
* Ability to create strong hooks and understand how to capture attention in the first few seconds of a video.
* Familiarity with current social media trends, viral formats, trending sounds, and creator culture.
* Interest in music, entertainment, artist development, and/or the creator economy.
* Strong understanding of social media analytics and ability to learn from performance data.
* Highly organized and able to maintain a consistent posting schedule.
* Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
* Strong communication skills and willingness to proactively pitch new ideas.
* Ability to take direction while also bringing your own creative perspective to the artist's social strategy.
* Previous experience managing a TikTok or Instagram account, particularly a personal, creator, artist, or entertainment account, is a plus.
* A personal interest in social media and examples of content you've created or managed are strongly preferred.
