This is a Part Time Unpaid Internship
EMI Music North America is looking for enthusiastic, motivated interns for our Fall 2012 Internship Program.
PURPOSE:
To expose college student to hands on work experience in their field of Studio Mastering. This internship is a great introduction to the production chain of a major record label. Interns are in close proximity to artists and the creative process of completing an album or single. The candidate will play a supporting role in day to day operations of Mastering. We are a ''client facing'' department dealing both with internal EMI personnel (A&R, Film and TV, Catalog) as well as external record labels, artists, producers, etc. The candidate should be aware that they won't be mixing or mastering audio, but that they may have the opportunity to experience what we do in a 'fly-on-the-wall' situation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Managing our online CRM database.
Answering phone calls from clients.
Updating session calendars.
Assistance in marketing campaign deliverables.
Assist with website content, social networks, and research projects.
Coordination of client events and parties.
PAST STUDIO MASTERING INTERNS HAVE HAD EXPERIENCE IN:
Sitting in on mastering sessions a couple times a month (when available/when possible)
Playing an active role in giving creative input on new marketing plans for the studio website and gained a deeper understanding of how the department markets itself to new and returning clients
Becoming more familiar and comfortable with mastering/studio terminology, and gaining a comprehensive understanding of how the mastering process works on both a specific level and on an administrative level
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Experience in the Studio/Music Business world is preferred, but not required.
Student must have a desire to learn.
Proper phone etiquette (friendly, courteous, business-like, ability to take proper messages and relay accurate information).
Computer (PC) skills such as Outlook, Microsoft Office applications, and basic Internet skills.
Must be an undergraduate student enrolled in an accredited college and be receiving academic credit for an internship.
Internships require a commitment of at least 16 hours per week for a minimum of 12 weeks.
Interest in pursuing a career in Music.
Exceptional interpersonal, communication, writing and organizational skills required.
Must be pro-active, detailed oriented, and possess good follow-through while adhering to deadlines.
Must be able to multi-task and prioritize tasks sufficiently while working independently.
Strong interest in the music industry preferred.
Strong organizational skills are preferred.
Candidate must be reliable and have good time management skills.
