Manager, Online Video
Reports to:
Vice President, Digital Distribution
Overall Description:
Key member on the core team responsible for Current’s Digital Distribution efforts charged with the promotion, monetization and exposure of Current’s broadcast programming on new media platforms.
Provide day-to-day management & execution of off-network efforts including (but not limited to) daily content syndication, custom programming programs, in-depth platform/channel management, online promotions, blogger & influencer outreach and more.
Specific Job Duties:
Help drive aggressive 2010 video performance growth in Distribution against monthly goals determined by department head
In-depth channel management of each of Current’s distribution platforms. Activities includes (but not limited to):
Hands-on media management in tandem with the group’s primary operations lead (media asset Q & A, format optimization, etc)
Lead all SEO efforts for Distribution (keywords, title optimization, thumbnail selection, etc)
Identify new channel growth opportunities based on platform-specific tools, products & functionality
Work closely with Marketing to ensure consistent brand messaging and marketing elements across all platforms (banner graphics, content descriptions, marketing URLs, etc); Coordinate various marketing updates accordingly
Daily/weekly programming suggestions to the group’s primary programming lead (weekly top videos, playlist creation, custom content packages, etc)
Develop and deploy meaningful online outreach (and pickup) with key tastemakers, bloggers, indie content creators, etc; Work to secure video embeds, links back to Current website, subscriptions to our feeds, etc.
Provide support to Ad Sales for off-network monetization
Aid in the launch of new partners or platforms as they arise
Creation of pitch materials to support new business development opportunities
Metrics & Reporting related:
Track, analyze & report on market / platform / competitor trends on a quarterly basis (at minimum)
Work closely with Online Analytics lead in preparation of weekly distribution metrics reports detailing key insights such as: total video views, most popular titles and any general in-channel feedback
Role Requirements:
3-5 years at a TV media, new media, digital distribution and/or video related company
More than average knowledge of the online & mobile video landscapes; Deep knowledge of YouTube, iTunes, MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and Hulu platforms specifically
Keen understanding of the underbelly of the Web and how to drive online video views/traffic
Basic experience with research and data testing 101’s – strong experience with SEO techniques & methodologies; ability to use both to support development/execution of distribution efforts. Experience working with Google Analytics, Omniture & VisibleMeasures a plus
Team player able to coordinate easily between multiple cross-functional departments (Marketing, Programming, Creative Services, Post Production, Business Affairs, etc)
Prior familiarity with Current TV programming a plus
Inherent ease of use working with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
Strong written and verbal communication skills; Must be able to represent well to external partners.

Passion for taking traditional media into the non-traditional - and building digital fandoms for TV content
Affinity towards heavy channel management, with knack for learning the ins & outs of a particular new media platform in order to move the needle on performance
Self starter with pro-active motivation to engage & execute against projects assigned to them
Fast learner, ready to hit the ground running; Ability to think, plan and execute resourcefully, across multiple fast-paced tasks.
