Role Overview
The SVP, Music Publishing is responsible for building and managing strategic relationships across the country music publishing ecosystem.
This role is not focused on day-to-day song pitching or traditional A&R responsibilities. Instead, it is centered on developing partnerships with music publishing companies, songwriter management firms, and creative stakeholders to unlock collaboration, catalog access, and long-term strategic opportunities.
The ideal candidate is a well-connected industry operator who understands how to navigate publishing networks and can translate relationships into scalable partnership value.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Partnerships (Primary Focus)
Develop and manage partnerships with major and independent music publishing companies
Build relationships with songwriter management companies, boutique firms, and creative agencies
Identify and execute partnership opportunities that expand access to songwriter catalogs, creative talent, and industry networks
Serve as the primary point of contact for external publishing and management partners
Ecosystem Development
Position the company as a central hub connecting publishers, writers, and artist teams
Facilitate high-level collaboration opportunities between partner organizations
Create repeatable partnership frameworks (e.g., catalog sharing, co-development opportunities, writer access initiatives)
Relationship Leverage & Network Expansion
Maintain active, trusted relationships across the Nashville publishing and management landscape
Continuously expand network across publishers, songwriter reps, and creative executives
Leverage relationships to unlock new partnership deals, introductions, and strategic opportunities
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with internal teams (product, marketing, A&R, and business affairs) to activate partnerships
Translate external relationships into internal opportunities (e.g., platform onboarding, campaigns, strategic initiatives)
Ensure alignment between partnership goals and overall company strategy
Market & Partner Intelligence
Stay informed on key players across publishing companies and songwriter management firms
Track shifts in the country music landscape, including emerging publishers, writer collectives, and management groups
Identify high-value partners based on influence, catalog strength, and network reach
Qualifications
4-8+ years of experience in music publishing, partnerships, A&R, or songwriter management (country focus strongly preferred)
Deep, established relationships across multiple music publishing companies and songwriter management companies (required)
Proven experience structuring or contributing to partnerships, collaborations, or cross-company initiatives
Strong understanding of publishing ecosystem dynamics (writers, managers, publishers, labels)
Preferred Background
Experience working with or alongside major publishers and/or influential independent publishing companies
Existing relationships with songwriter managers and creative executives in Nashville
Familiarity with platforms such as Spotify and Chartmetric to understand partner value and market positioning
