The Role
The Recording Studio Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day studio operations, managing schedules and staff, maintaining studio standards, and ensuring exceptional service for all clients. This role blends operational leadership with a strong understanding of studio workflows and audio culture.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage daily studio operations, scheduling, and room bookings
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients before, during, and after sessions
• Oversee studio engineers, assistants, and freelance staff schedules
• Ensure studios are session-ready, organized, and well-maintained
• Coordinate equipment maintenance, repairs, and inventory
• Handle invoicing, payments, session billing, and basic bookkeeping
• Enforce studio policies and best practices
• Support marketing, social media, and client outreach efforts as needed
• Anticipate client needs and help create a seamless, welcoming studio experience
Qualifications
• 4+ years of experience in a recording studio or music production environment
• Strong understanding of recording studio workflows and terminology
• Excellent communication and client service skills
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and reliable
• Comfortable managing schedules, budgets, and multiple priorities
• Experience working with Pro Tools and professional audio equipment is a strong plus
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional, calm, and confident presence with clients, artists, and staff in high-pressure studio environments
• NYC based with flexibility for evenings and occasional weekends
Bonus Skills
• Background in audio engineering or production
• Experience with studio management software and booking systems
• Established relationships within the NYC music community
Salary/Benefits
Compensation & Incentives
• Base salary, commensurate with experience
• Commission paid on new clients or new projects personally referred by the Studio Manager
• Performance based growth opportunities as the studio expands
