Internship Start Date/Season: Flexible / Rolling

DEVOUR is seeking a Development & Editorial Intern to support the review, development, and curation of original short fiction for an independent literary platform focused on horror, speculative fiction, and genre-blending work.
This internship offers hands-on editorial experience within a small, founder-led operation. The intern will work closely with DEVOUR's editor to evaluate submissions, assist with editorial workflows, and gain insight into how literary IP is developed with potential pathways to film, television, and audio adaptation.
Day-to-Day Duties & Responsibilities
• Read and evaluate short fiction submissions
• Write brief reader notes or coverage summaries
• Assist with submission tracking and organization
• Support editorial decision-making and curation
• Conduct light research related to publishing, genre trends, or adaptable IP
• Provide general administrative or development support as needed
Ideal Skills & Background
• Strong reading comprehension and written communication skills
• Interest in horror, speculative fiction, sci-fi, or genre storytelling
• Familiarity with literary journals, publishing, or screen storytelling a plus
• Organized, dependable, and comfortable working independently
• Students or recent graduates in English, Creative Writing, Film, Media Studies, or related fields encouraged to apply
