Seeking exceptional junior level attorney to primarily handle the day to day production legal and deal making functions for a heavy and fast paced volume of productions, production companies and digital creators.
The associate will be responsible for all aspects of production legal, primarily focused on non-fiction/unscripted/documentary television, film, podcasts, live and digital productions, in addition to the representation of on-camera talent, hosts, producers, creators, rights holders and others.
Responsibilities will include structuring, drafting, negotiating, reviewing and commenting upon a wide range of agreements, such as: location; talent, participant; indemnities; production services; rights, co-productions, staff/crew deal memos; access; vendor and others.
Additionally, the associate will handle a busy slate of development agreements for multiple clients in addition to advising on matters relating to insurance, risk, episode clearance, intellectual property and rights issues, and overall best production practices.
Requirements:
• JD degree from top-tier law school;
• Member in good standing of the California State Bar;
• 2-4 years experience as an attorney at a major television production company, studio, network or entertainment law firm with significant non-fiction experience;
• Ability to deal effectively and calmly in a fast paced, high volume environment;
• Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical and drafting skills;
• Excellent understanding, experience and knowledge of television, film, podcast and digital production and production legal;
• Strong relationships with others in the industry;
• Ability to forge strong relationships with clients and colleagues;
The successful candidates will also possess the following:
• Passion for non-fiction, documentary and unscripted entertainment. Experience with television, film, digital, podcast and live. Comfortable interfacing directly with clients and thinking quickly on their feet.
• A good, balanced personality encompassing professionalism, strong inter-personal skills and a sense of humor.
This is a full time, in office (5 days/week) position.
Salary/Benefits
$150,000 - $190,000 /year USD
